I know how you feel, but I checked this morning and he is still the president of the USA. I felt the same way about JFK while in the service, it was pointed out he was commander in chief, I believe, so he was my president. If Florida pulls out of the Union we might have something to say, but that isn't going to help.
I have no idea why the thought about JFK while you were in the service, but what would the alternative have been, Richard Nixon from the 60 election? That didn't work out so well, did it?
In fact, to show how far left both parties have drifted since the period of time you are talking about, JFK's administration was well to the right of both Bush Administrations and a McCain Administration. There was restraint in government growth, tax cuts, and a strong defense.
I say that having voted for Nixon, which was a mistake.
One thing I agree with for sure, we got just what we voted for. You are correct, the evidence was out there for what to expect. The American people have got themselves between a rock and a hard place. We have so lowered the bar for the two choices for President, there is no real solution to a failed administration but to elect a different administration that is going to fail. Not that Kennedy or Nixon in the 60 election were stellar candidates, but they were light years ahead of candidates from either party since say 1988. There just do not seem to be any Trumans, Goldwaters, or Reagans nominated anymore.
It would be a fascinating study to figure out why we seem to nominate unqualified candidates for the job of President, but we do. Maybe the answer is it is a reflection of ourselves.
It should be no surprise to anyone about the cost overuns on this project. It is not so much the cost that is going to harm this nation (even though it is never good to purchase something with money created out of thin air), but damage is going to come from government running one sixth of the economy.
