Obama's appalling new low?

This is an example of how much a party wants to win. Members of the Democratic Party will endorse their candidate on the ballot even if they go against the party platform. Republicans do the same. Republican voters will vote for a monkey and a suit as long as the candidate has (R) following its name. Democratic voters will vote for an ass in a suit as long as it has (D) following the name.

It's no wonder good people don't run anymore, not when the opposing side will make up lies about them. This country will never be what it once was.

Everyone has their opinions even if they are on rightly negative. And those who have negative opinions generally twist events to delete the truth. Endorsing an American citizen is not taking a LOW ..... UNLIKE THE REPUBLICANS who are trying to take away the rights of certain American citizens to vote by any allowable means possible.

The Daily Mail maintains a strong right-leaning editorial perspective characterized by social conservatism, skepticism toward immigration, opposition to many progressive cultural policies, criticism of the political left, and historically strong support for Brexit.
Right-leaning and conservative is better than left-leaning and liberal, making this source more reliable than left-biased main stream news media.

If the liberals were just left of center and the conservatives just right, we would see Congress accomplish more. Unfortunately, they will never move back toward the center. With 47% of voters identifying as independent, we need a third party that is moderate.

1) but where do independents stand?
2) Moderate - how ? economic or social issue?
3) and to what degree?
For example: Taxation - only billionaires pay, only millionaires, only 100,000 or does everyone pay 3%

No easy answers!

First of all, the number of independent voters increase as voters grew more disgusted at how far left the Democrats have gone and how far right the Republicans have. Both parties lost their way.

You and I are two old timers who remember politics from the late 1960s and 70s. For the most part, Democrats at that time were conservative on fiscal issues and liberal on social issues, while Republicans were conservative on both, but willing to compromise on both.

While Kennedy was president his party held 64 seats in the Senate while the Republicans only held 36. The Democrats held 262 seats in the House compared to the Republicans' 175. There were many bipartisan pieces of legislation passed and signed into law that included lowering tariffs and making tax cuts. Other bipartisan legislation was the Fair Housing Act, Community Mental Health Act, the Social Security amendments of 1961, the Equal Pay Act, and many more.

I see the independent voters as those who want to see a working Congress that can work more together than against each other. They are realistic that compromise accomplishes much more than the "it's our way or the highway" mentality each party has today.

The only Republicans in the House I consider moderate are: Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Don Bacon (NE), and Mike Lawler (NY). Moderate Democrats are: Tom Suozzi (NY), Josh Gottheimer (NJ), Jared Golden (ME) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA).

Senate Republican moderates: Susan Collins (R-ME), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). The lone Democrat moderate is Mark Warner (D-VA).

I have a lot of friends who were once Democrats and Republicans that are more willing to vote for moderates than party hardliners. Like me, they're tired of the power plays each try to make over the other while recklessly dividing this country as they put it further in debt.

Most of the moderates are for more government spending which would put the nation further in debt. The bipartisan bills often require increased spending.

and keep one thing in mind - "extremist" is a variable rm!

Some will say anyone who is "anti-abortion" is an extremist

We need to look at each issue a candidates platform!

The voting record of the claimed moderates would show their support for more government spending for non-defense programs.
That proves nothing because you would have to know the identity of all independent voters and access to their voting records. You don't have that, therefor you don't have any proof to what you claim is true. Neither party can win an election without getting the majority of the independent votes. If what you say were true that the majority of independent voters support more government spending for non-defense programs, then how did Trump get elected in 2024 and why does the Republican Party have the majority in each chamber of Congress? Did the Republicans cheat to win elections?

Platforms? Each mainly run by throwing insults and accusations against their opponents while telling us why we shouldn't vote for the other guy. Neither really tell us what they hope to achieve as a member of Congress. Here in Georgia, the Republican candidate for Senate, Mike Collins spends his time at rallies bashing John Ossoff and then spends the remainder of the time saying how much he will support Trump. That's his platform.

It's all about winning. So much so long-term Democrats who will support a socialist who wants to replace our Constitution with something else. So much so, that Republicans will go along with Trump's unconstitutional executive orders. They won't disagree with him at all. It's like they belong to a collective of one thought.

Politics have become truly disgusting and our government corrupt.
