I read the Fact Sheet. Sounds a lot like the TV series Stargate SG1.

Did anyone see the headline that said: "Maybe your purpose on this planet isn't on this planet". So the idea is to go into a brutal environment and try to live there? Good grief, these people have gone bonkers.

Ah, gross, it falls under the Department of the Air Force. That means no warrant officers.

They're robbing us of our proud history, heros like Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley.

Up in the air, Junior Birdmen,
Up in the air, upside-down !
Up in the air, Junior Birdman;
Don't let yer no-ses touch the ground !(Don't touch the ground !)
And when you hear the postman's whistle,
And you receive your wings of tin,
You'll know the Junior Bird-men, Bird-men
Sent their box tops in!

I think it was inevitable that space would be militarized. If you think about it, when the first Intercontinental Ballistic Missle crossed the Karman line (the internationally accepted threshold of space, 62 miles) in the late 1950's space was militarized. Much of the work of the United States Space Force is already being done by the United States Air Force Space Command in conjunction with intelligence agencies, other branches of the military, and NASA. Competitively it does provide the Air Force with more clout and influence in the military community and among the Joint Chiefs as it will operate under the Department of the Air Force, just as the Marine Corp operates under the Department of the Navy.

Do I sense some Air Force-directed jealousy? LOL
