I have not read anyone from the Far Left posting on this board telling those that disagree with him/her to move to another country. I don't know if we even have a Far Leftist posting on this board, period.

Daisy, it was not meant to be personal or nasty. I wanted you to notice that the countries that don't do the wiretapping have all had terrorist problems within their borders, whether it is mob riots or actual attacks.

I liked things better even before that. I grew up in the Eisenhower era when I was simply not conscious of all the problems. Oh yeah, some people built bomb shelters, but nothing ever happened. I was busy playing jacks on the kitchen floor and was aware of my parents fighting to get a stop sign at the end of our street.

On the other hand, there were some people who did not like that time at all, and now I am all grown up, I can understand that.

Then there was Kennedy, and the Bay of Pigs and infidelity and such. Then Johnson and the VietNam war. Nixon and Watergate. Carter recognized Red China and hung Taiwan out to dry.

We just can't seem to get a perfect President, can we? They ALL, including Reagan, had faults and did some things wrong. And they all did some things right.

There will always be people who hate whomever is in office. The deficit, by the way, is the baby of Congress, not the President! Please put the blame where the blame is due. Entitlements, enacted primarily by Democratic Congresses and administrations, now take up over half our budget. Bailing out other countries takes a significant chunk. Pork is a four-letter swear word that Congress has adopted en masse.

So I don't mind when someone there in Washington DC actually decides to do what they were elected to do -- defend us from our enemies. And that very much includes terrorists.

I don't mind living an open, transparent life. I have nothing to hide. After six kids who blabbed everything all over the neighborhood, church, and school, there's nothing LEFT to hide!

Maybe it's just that between that and being married to Barry, there's no privacy left anyway! And you know something, we're still alive and functioning. And un-bombed.

I appreciate what our President is doing and I am disgusted to the core with the fact that the media will not report what they think might support him. What is wrong with supporting our elected President? What is wrong with being appreciative of what he does that is good and successful? It is simply not in vogue to be positive? Is it just a matter of tearing down everything you can in order to get the people you want in power?

I can't go with that. Whether or not I agree with everything our President has done, he is our elected President and he is in office by the grace of God and I will support him.

The old Agnew phrase 'nattering nabobs of negativism' keeps running through my mind when I think of the press and those who are happier insulting someone they disagree with than offering constructive criticism and support when that person is an elected official.

You are half right. The President signs the spending bills and the tax cuts into law. Our current president has not vetoed a single bill.

Also, you might have noticed during the past five years how the Republicans in Congress have been pushing for more spending as much as the Democrats have. The GOP pushed through the huge prescription drug plan that will add hundreds of billions of dollars, if not more than a trillion dollars, over the next ten years to the federal budget.

Maybe we need to be looking to bail ourselves out.

As I've argued in another thread ("Slaves to GWB and the Republican Party", Politics forum), Baldwin's quote of Henry is simply dishonest.

We also went from 1993 until 2001 without any attacks by foreigners on our soil, and we didn't have the Patriot Act or other enhanced executive branch powers that President Bush has seemingly grabbed.

So, the proper response to 9/11 was what, doing nothing, in hopes that they'll wait another eight years, and that perhaps it won't be your family in the crosshairs?

I have utmost respect for President Bush. I trust him. If he wants to tap my phone conversations he can go right ahead. When I was a kid the phones were all on one line. You just had a different ring. People listened to other conversations all the time. It seems to me the only people that are crying foul are those with something to hide....and the democrats that put them in office.

If you give President Bush that right then President Rodham Clinton will also have that right. That is the dilemma as I see it.

Yes, this is the problem. Not all our presidents have been trustworthy.

Since those on the right tend to love their country, leftists realize they would be wasting their breath and time.

I don't like the fact that the President caved on the only viable solution for social security, or his "no student left behind" fiasco, or his porous border, and more. But his presidency is substantially about terrorism, and he is doing a fantastic job of preserving American lives, including service men. Never has a war been waged anywhere that has cost so few American troops lives while accomplishing so much.

The leftist movement has so dominated politics for so long that they cannot grasp the fact that American voters have decided to elect a conservative government. They refuse to accept the will of the people, presumably because the people are now too stupid to decide correctly. The news media has forever been socialistic in its approach to politics.

Our Bibles tell us that in the last days perilous times will come. People will be lovers of selves, arrogant, etc. II Tim.

Virtually all respected theologians agree that America does not figure in to the tribulation prophecy, and so we wonder what happens to her. I believe that the removal of the elect, in the great rapture, removes the last restraint to the gods of secular humanism, which will then unite under the false trinity, to once and for all, (he wishes) put an end to God's Kingdom, while installing his own.

The principalities and powers today recognize that a Christian President in the United States today is a great threat (see his tremendous victories in Iraq) to this program of one world order, and have enlisted the support of the modern liberals of today to vilify and cast as much doubt on his character as possible in order to stop him. The major emphasis has been to convince all of America, even the elect, of the evils of this regime, in order to further their agenda, a socialistic state. But behind the scenes, Satan’s overall agenda is to destroy the Lamb of God and His program. He is just using today’s liberals as a pawn on his chessboard of world domination. This war on the Lamb has been going on since mans fall, and is intensifying in these last days.

It is amazing to me as I write on this board, that so many of you have unwittingly chosen to support the efforts of the leftists. It’s disturbing because it is your refusal to see God’s Word in light of the resurrected, glorified Christ's revelation to us through the Apostle Paul, epistles.

This war on terror will be lost by us, and I just hope it is after President Bush is retired. It would be sad to see him defeated after such a heroic effort for America and the world.

Isn't it said that a free press is essential to liberty. I would say that the party that controls the Media is a greater threat to our freedom than a president who is making a good faith effort to portect us from the Bomb.

Yes to wiretaps, legal or not, on terrorist scum. And I don't care if they have never stopped or even if, ultimately, they never stop an actual terrorist attack, but if they aid in tracking down this vermin, I'm all for it. If it is used against political opponents, yes, the President should be impeached and I would be extremely concerned if it is used against dissident groups; however, if an antiwar group or its members associate themselves with al Qaeda they should be pursued as any other who aids or abets an attack on this country. Both the NSA should use due diligence to ensure this is not misused and such dissident groups should likewise be careful with whom they associate themselves.

In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed. The response from the Clinton administration - nothing. That was an attack on American soil by foreign Islamofacist.

In addition to that, in 1996 the Khobar Towers were bombed killing Americans. While located in Saudi Arabia, that was American property housing American soldiers. The response from the Clinton Administration - nothing.

Then in 1998 over 250 people were killed and over 5000 hurt when terrorist bombed the American embassy in Kenya. And if I'm not mistaken, our embassies are considered to be American territory. The Clinton administration's response - nothing.

And finally in 2000, the U.S.S. Cole was bombed, killing 17 American sailors. The response from the Clinton administration - nothing.

Okay, I see what you're saying. From the first WTC bombing till the 9/11 attacks we weren't hit on our soil.

The planning for the 9/11 attacks goes well back into that time period, and if better intelligence methods had been used, the attacks probably could have been stopped. It's all there in the 9/11 commission report. Lots of warning signs, very few paying attention.

You conveniently forgot the 241 U.S. marines who were killed in Beirut on October 23, 1983. Of course this happened when Ronald Reagan was president. And, by the way, his response was nothing except to order the battleship USS New Jersey to be stationed off the coast of Lebanon.

well, we weren't talking about the 80s, but that was a tragedy as well, and I'd agree that Lebanon wasn't handled properly. Lebanon has one of the largest Christian populations in the middle east, if not the largest, and we, who should have been their biggest supporter, abandoned them.

So, no Terry, not forgotten, just wasn't what we were talking about.
