Old Testament Studies

In His Grace

New Member
What are some of your favorite Old Testament studies and why?

Personally, I love the story of Joseph and his brothers.

Recently I have become very interested in the Tabernacle, The Temple, and the "Holy of Holies".

Ah, two of my favorite types!

Joseph was a 'type' of Christ, several authors have written about this. one of the more resent books is Joseph makes me think of Jesus by Bill MacDonald http://shop2.mailordercentral.com/gospel/prodinfo.asp?number=B-1690

And if you want to read about the types of Christ in the tabernacle, i'd recommend reading CH Mackintosh's Notes on the Pentateuch that you can actually read on line at http://www.stempublishing.com/authors/mackintosh/index.html and Ada Halbershon's outline study of the tabernacle.

Abraham, because although he had many flaws, he had a saving faith that is an example to all who believe in Jesus until he returns!

My favorite OT scriptures are those who talk about justice for the poor, the widowed, etc. Basically, a lot of the prophets.

I like Jacob and Esau, which shows us a type of a faithful Christian and an unfaithful Christian. Sadly, many turn it into a type of the saved and the lost.
