On becoming a Conservative ...

It seems that, with each passing day, I'm becoming more and more (politically) conservative.

Reading the National Review magazine has been a huge influence, in that regard, by the way.

Is there, by any chance, anyone else here who happened to make the transition from "liberal" to "conservative," at some point in time (like myself)?

Thanks in advance for (what I'm hoping will be) your positive input/feedback.

Yes, my darling wife has and it’s been a process. But mostly it is seeing how bad and evil the Biden administration is and how they lie and are secretive. So you are not alone.

Nope. I was born Conservative. My transition has been from Conservative, to neo-con, to turn back the clock far right ideology.

I remember hearing someone (???) saying, "If you aren't LIBERAL when 20, you have no heart; but if you are still liberal after 30, then you have no brain."
I would say that this is pretty much accurate!
I remember when I was young (early teens) I was constantly spouting "There ought to be a law----". When I started earning my own money, seeing the portion the IRS took & the way it was spent, I rapidly converted - late teens then!!
Just turned 85, & my blood most definitely runneth "conservative"!
So, alexander284, welcome to "conservatism"!

When it comes to really understanding theft, perhaps nothing beats being stolen from.

I don’t think I’ve ever been a “liberal”. I have been completely ignorant of a great many issues. Once I learned the different points of view, I find myself mostly falling in line with “conservative” thinking.

I give credit to Rush Limbaugh for teaching me to think critically about issues through his radio show.

I remember listening to him in college (late 1980’s) between classes. At that time there was a big push against “acid rain”. I recall him talking about college textbooks that had pictures of certain trees with few leaves stating it was caused by acid rain. The truth was that was just how they looked, small needled trees at high altitude.

I was literally studying an environmental biology book while he was talking, and there was the picture in a section on acid rain. I remember the caption under the picture.simply identified the tree as some sort of conifer tree, but didn’t actually say it was affected by acid rain.

The students just made the connection because the section was on acid rain. That was the first time I realized that science could be corrupted by liberal politics.

peace to you

I started as a Traditional Conservative and have migrated to PaleoConservative/Populist.

My mother started out as a Liberal and became a Conservative after paying taxes and watching where it went for years. Listening to Rush Limbaugh helped her out there.

I was born Conservative.

I was raised conservative, unawares. I suppose it was Rush Limbaugh that acutely made me aware of how little I had in common with liberalism.

My transition has been from Conservative, to neo-con, to turn back the clock far right ideology.

Maybe you will explain what you mean. To me 'conservative' is true blue conservatism, 'neo-conservatism' is political, interventionist militarily, Christian Zionist. I was briefly 'Christian Zionist' until I learned better.
