As doesn't their teaching presuppose that the sinner must make that choice to receive christ, so on what basis can be confident that some will do that then?

Based on the revealed foreknowledge of God which He had before the foundation of the world. God knew many would believe and God knew specifically those who would believe.

Or do you believe God did not know many would believe, and God did not know specifically those who would believe?

I have heard Kenneth Copland say in the past that Christ had faith when he went to the cross that someone would believe and accept him. The problem with this theory is Christ would be putting his faith in what man would do instead of what He, Christ would do.

Always thought Copland was a bit whacky. That sounds like Jesus did not know if anyone would believe, but that He was "hoping" they would, a "hope so" kinda faith. Jesus did demonstrate faith in God the Father, which is what Christian faith is, a "know so" faith and we demonstrate our saving faith (regeneration) by showing and exercising our trust in Jesus Christ.

Non Calvinists though have to see God allow man to me ake the right decision to accept Jesus, so none could poyentially get saved, or all!

Because God said so! Because the Bible says so! Because people do repent, turn, accept Christ as Lord and Savior and are saved.

Arminians find their assurance the same place Calvinists do: the Cross of Calvary. Whoever says Arminians determine their own salvation through an act of their own free will is either misinformed or being dishonest.

Arminians believe that no man comes to Jesus without being drawn and that no man confesses Jesus as Lord unless led by the Holy Spirit.

Arminians believe that only Christ's completed work on the Cross saves and there is no other name under Heaven by which we are saved.

The assurance comes from the faithfulness of God and not the fidelity of the adherent.

Why don't you read Arminius and find out?
