it pays to live in sin. I read that if a retired couple get married, both of their retirement checks will be cut. They're better off just living together and getting their full check. I don't believe in doing that, but people are encouraged to live in sin.

Yep, that's our Federal government for us. Let's see the Christian libs on the board defend this one.

One of my distant uncles found a tax loophole and informed his wife that if they got a legal divorce they could save money. She agreed, they got the legal divorce, and she packed up and left one day while he was at work. When I heard what happened I about fell down from laughing so hard. Today, she is a happy lady living with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. I'm glad she was able to get away from him. He is not a bad guy, per-say, he is just a silly jerk who always keeps things stirred up.

There is no way to defend high taxes. But hey, we have only ourselves to blame. After all we keep electing the people (Democrats and Republicans) passing the taxes. We reap what we sow.

==No. The Boston Tea Party was a protest against a direct tax passed by a government that did not provide representation to the colonies. The current taxes are passed by our representatives. If we don't like the taxes they are passing, we should vote them out. No tea party needed.

I'll drink to that!

Instead of throwing good tea overboard...

Throw the bums out of Washington!

So true. We forget our history.

Way back when, I had a professor who said the average American wanting more than they were willing to work for or pay for would be the down fall to this country. He used FDR as his point, all of his spending did nothing but buy votes, WWII got the economy going again. Sad but true.

==Indeed. Not only do Americans forget our history, too many of them are ignorant of our history. Being a college history instructor, I see first hand how ignorant many people are about American History. It is very sad.

My friend, I might be off base here, but from the folks that I speak with, they aren't just ignorant about our history, they don't care about it! Now that is sad. So many people I speak with, acts as if history began with them.
