I haven't made up my mind yet... at one time the SSN was a threat... Then came UPC bars... then POSs.... Then the EZPasses..... But probably not, I hate shots, and that is the way they insert them....

If it is a medical microchip then the only ones that would have access would be medical professionals, and emergency workers... HIPPA would cover the privacy factor... Does your grocery store clerk have access to your hospital records now?

I suppose you are equating this with vaccination... which is absurd... There would be no health risks involved...

Did I say it wouldn't affect me? If the day comes that I would ever get Altzheimers, I would thank God if this technology were available...

I am not comparing this to vaccines for children. First, there is no health benefit. And now, children cannot attend school until the proper papers are produced. Why not have that paper trail permanently implanted under their skin? Saves school officials the trouble.

I made the grocery clerk comment to illustrate that, with this chip, it's possible that just about anyone could have access to your most private information, given the right tools. We probably wouldn't even think twice about it. How many of us give out our SS# now, when asked? That's not something I'm willing to give away.

Putting this information in a chip, implanting it under the skin of those who need to be watched over constantly, or who cannot speak for themselves, is not a fair trade off for the vast majority of us who CAN and WANT our personal information private. I just don't believe it will stop there, with those who could benefit. Sooner or later it will become commonplace for us all to have one, if we let that happen.

Don't think we should condemn a "thing" simply because it CAN BE MISUSED.

Sure the chip has all kinds of potential to be abused, BUT how many lives have been ruined because of misuse of "freedom of the press/speech"? How many innocents have been convicted because the press had the trial before getting all the facts? How many guilty have been exonerated(?) because the publicity has cowed the accusers?

Even with all this abuse (and I'm sure that I've just touched the tip of the iceberg) no one is seriously calling for this freedom to be abolished; at least not the average guy on-the-street. (I'm sure there are some in power that would love to see it gone, but that just justifies the reason it should remain.)Fact is, I wish the founders had had the foresight to put some tough restrictions on the use of our guarenteed freedoms so that the preceding, while still existant, would have a better chance of being addressed for their misuse.Anyway, point being, the good/evil of most things is determined by the use to which it is put, not the thing in itself.

And the more technological we become, the more opportunity there is for misuse of "whatever".

Bottom line re: the OP, would I accept the chip? NOPE!! I'm too private as a person to ever consider such. But if I get to the point that I'm irresponsible in my behavior, it may become a necessary chore for my wife/kids to have it done for safety's sake.

Long as I'm still rational, & have a say, it won't be done to me.

Well, why not fight for the right to privacy now, instead of when it may already be too late? The SS# and other forms of ID you mentioned are not permanentaly implanted in our bodies. We still have the choice of whether to even have one or not.
Are you so sure only medical professionals will be the only ones with access to our chips? How about your bank? The IRS? The military? Why not include a GPS in there at the same time. Then people could know where you are every second of the day. The potential for abuse is too great, and too easy.

Sure, I may change my living will to incorporate the
statement that they can microchip my body, I ain't
going to need it for awile (if the Lord Taries). And
at the Rapture they can figure out where I'm gone,
I guess, maybe the new body Jesus gives me will
be de-chipped?

At Esso (Canada's version of Exxon), I pay for gas by waving my Speedpass in front of a detector at the pump. It is fast and efficient. I wouldn't mind having a chip imbedded for this purpose and if it stored health records too that wouldn't be such a bad thing.

I know it "sounds" like the mark of the beast in revelation but so does a million other things.

We are Christians in the hands of Almighty God. Why are we afraid of the mark of the beast?
