Romans 8, ending of Jude, Hebrews that states to us that Jesus as High Priest saves forever those he has saved, just too much scripture that support that eternal life means just that!
And...?
God bless.

Really torn with the idea of once saved always saved.
I know There are difference of opinions and scripture verses to support either side of the argument. Don't really know what to do other than pray for God's understanding.
Would love to hear from anyone that can show me scripture that says we are saved sealed by Christ and nothing will remove that sealed, Not even ourselves.
I too believe in OSAS just as Brother Robert so beautifully explained it... Did Christ say that he saved all the Father gave him?... No more, no less?... Some say I believe that but?... BUT WHAT?... IMHO... Throw in the BUT and you kick ALL Gods Redeeming Grace out of it!... Brother Glen
Just trying to get this thread going again. I wonder what happened to the OP.
I didn't read Robert's post so understand this simply addresses the issue you raise, and that of none given to Christ being lost.
Off the top of my head I think of these passages...
John 17:12
King James Version (KJV)
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
John 18:8-10
King James Version (KJV)
8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
What I would say is that Christ had not eternally redeemed the disciples at the time of this statement, so I do not see this as a relevant, or accurate statement in regards to Eternal Security.
God bless.
I don't know what happened to OP either but the scripture I was thinking of was John 6:38 but the ones you quoted are good too... Did you want to get it going again?... Brother Glen
I really dislike the expression Once saved, Always saved because it gives the impression that anyone who has made a profession of faith is thereby automatically saved for life. This is simply not true.
We do not save ourselves, nor do we keep ourselves saved....If the one in view is not actually saved OSAS doesn't actually apply. We would have to change it to OPAS (once professing always saved).
And while I don't have a big problem with the term, I do prefer Eternal security.
God bless.

Nothing I have ever said implies men can save themselves. Again, you post something that not only doesn't contribute to the discussion, you imply heresy on my part.
You want to tell me why you said this?
NOT accusing you of anything on that post, was just making a statement to the OP that we are eternally secured, as God Himself saves us and he also keeps us...
God bless.

Of course, lol, this is one of my favorite topics.
Here is the verse you quote:
John 6:38
King James Version (KJV)
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
I still don't see the relevance but I will go back and try to find Robert's post, maybe that will clarify it for me.
God bless.

Just as long as we do not hold to one can actually lose their eternal life in Christ, call it what you want!Darrell!... I can go with Eternal Security but I know it is really OSAS in disguise... Brother Glen
