Thanks for the link. I think he had a chance to hit a home run for the gospel, and at best, he bunted. He had a great chance to tell millions of people that without Christ you'll never make it to heaven, and he didn't.

Yeah, i agree that only God know for sure, but if someone doesn't claim faith in Jesus, if they don't have the Son, they will not make it to heaven, no matter how sincere they are. Your faith is only as good as the object it is placed in. If it isn't Jesus, it isn't any good.
I would have to agree with this. If he is not preaching Christ as the only way, he is not preaching the gospel, but is preaching another gospel & Paul said let him be accursed.
No preacher in the Bible would have ever made it sound as if you can believe in a false god & still go to heaven.

I second that  I think this is a topic everyone will be in agreement on.

Hey, what are we all doing agreeing in a debate forum!!!!
I was talking to someone the other day about BB and O$teen, and made the comment that O$teen is the only subject we all agree on...
Who said Baptists can't be unified!
We just need a common enemy/false prophet.

We gotta at least find something to disagree about...

I also think O$teen is a false prophet.
It is sooo obvious! I can't believe Christians are really fooled by his smile.

We are hard on each other out of love for each other.

on what matters the most...

We are hard on others out side the faith out of our common love for God.

You know, I kinda agree. The people I have talked with that like him and have read his book, are not born again believers. Maybe there are a few Christians pulled in, but surely they don't stay long. I pray this is the case. If it is, Osteen just has a club like faith of "lets feel good about life" full of non-believers.

But as it has already been pointed out....God knows the heart....not us.

I have no use for Joel Olsteen, but the fact is, you have no idea if he is saved or not. You are not God, and cannot see his heart, unless of course you have acquired some gift that has not manifested itself before now.

I agree, I just get fired up when false doctrines are being taught. Especially when thousands of people think they are hearing the Word of God but are meerly hearing the opinion of a confused man. so sad

Just so you'll know, you can get banned from the BB for judging someone's salvation. Of course, I know that anyone that disagrees with me is not saved - but I just don't say it out loud around here!

While I disagree with Joel Osteen, I very often wander why we all are so quick to judge the salvation of others.

It is just a question I have.

We are far removed from the gifts of the Apostles.
We are all blinded by our own bias, the bias of our past and present teachers and the bias of groups.

Our own bias is the greatest danger. Is there anything that can more easily blind us from the truth of Scripture than our own deceitful hearts?

Consider this passage from Paul to Timothy the next time you feel the need to judge another's position in Christ:

If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 2 Tim. 2:13

Not confronting false prophets is not love or Christlike. It actually is un loving towards Christ and unchrist like. If we allow false prophets to go uncontested then we are also not showing love towards non-christians or christians. Acually it shows a love of self alot of times. We don't want people to dislike us. We want to be accepted by the world instead of Christ. It never changes even as christians the age old choice is always Christ or this world.

Jeremiah 14:13-14 13 Then I said: "Ah, Lord GOD, behold, the prophets say to them, 'You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.'" 14 And the LORD said to me: "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Don't be like the galations
Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.

Test the spirits
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

We are to test what we hear and not tolerate false teachers. Jesus commends this at the church in Ephesus.
Revelation 2:2-3 'I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary.

I could go on.

Please, do go on. Nothing you have posted opposses what I have stated.

In fact, from Cor. 11 above we see their end is already settled.

Now, having said that, note I do not support Joel Osteen. In fact, I do not support any ministry whose purpose is to save the world through my donation, er, i MEAN my love gift to help them reach the world. As if the Holy Spirit is incapable?

Once when I was a younger, braver punk yet a believer, I talked face to face with Robert Tilton. I asked him what his mission statement was and did it in any way include the gospel message. He studdered and said we wanted all people to be saved. I asked when the last time he asked any to come to Christ. He said he did all the time and walked off...I was held back by bodyguards

?

YOu say you agree but tell others that are warning people that He is not a follower of Christ that they are judgemental. I am confused

sorry to have confused you. I am simply saying you and I cannot judge him or anyone else. judgement carries with it authority to pass sentence. What sentence do you feel authorized to pass?

We can warn others to test his teachings against scripture. The problem is the predominance of christians, mainstream that is, desire someone to tell them what scripture means, it frees up time for more important things than actual study. imho.

But having done that, our duty and responsibility stops at disassociation, we have no duty or responsibility to condemn the man, nor any other.

Is it not two distinctly different things to say that we don't know what's in his heart as far as his own salvation experience and to say that he is not preaching the Gospel?
