abcgrad94 was not being totally honest. The statement was true but information was left out so I stand on what I posted. My prophile says what church I attend and always has so you are the one out of line since this was totally none of your business.
You falsely accused her of loving the denomination over being a Christian and not being "totally honest", paramount to calling her a liar. That is out of line...and anything posted on a public board is anyone's business.

Freeatlast, are you a Baptist? On your profile, your denomination says "Christian" so I just wondered.

Ah yes the old love for the denomination above the love for Christian.

I put these quotes together to illustrate the concept of gentleness (or the lack thereof).

Even if you feel you do have it all together, is the harshness and argumentative approach the wisest course of action?

Not to mention--I simply thought the response was out of line in proportino to the question. Just MHO, though.

You falsely accused her of loving the denomination over being a Christian. That is out of line...and anything posted on a public board is anyone's business.

WD snuck that in before my post. I agree with his assertion...he said it better than I.

Then it would have been very simple to correct her by pointing out that your church is a Baptist Church. There was no need to impune her motives by stating she loves the denomination more than being a Christian.

peace to you:praying:

Wow! All that for a simple question. I was simply curious, that's all. Sometimes knowing a person's background helps me better understand their point of view, especially if we disagree. No need to get defensive or unkind about it.

I see, you just love a person's background more than the person!!!

Sometimes it's best to just set back and watch people that think they are God's gifts implode upon themselves...

Going to get some popcorn..

I think a show is coming on.

I liked that article.

Concerning the rest of the thread, just this morning driving to work I was listening to the NT on CD, and it was at Romans 14. This chapter is all about Christians judging one another. I have to admit I got a bit convicted listening, I know I am often critical of Christians who do not believe quite as I do.

Rom 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

You know, we are all different, I don't know of any Christians who absolutely agree on everything 100%, even in the same church. Paul addressed that here, and says it is not up to us to judge each other. That is God's responsibility.

I am going to try to remember this.

We should love all Christians, and I agree 100% with your post. Having said that, anyone who sets themselves apart from others (and what I consider the some of the most mature Christians as a group on this board) based on the person you addressed's opinions and the same person's perceived righteouness, I have no problem rebuking such a person. They are nothing but a modern day Pharisee, and do nothing but disrupt a civil discussion.

I am so glad you feel that way since my background is sinless perfection.
