U no I took no part in it sorry for your error.

No I don’t. In fact, there are times I suspect you act like a provocateur. You may still want to project the posture of an aggressive Marine, but now we are older, hopefully wiser .... and you are a man of God... any way Semper Fi!

Uh your not going to tie me to that comment I disavowed. I didn't say it nor imply it no matter how much you may want that to be true.

And for the most part they were right. The civilized tribes being the exception. The non-civilized tribes were barbaric monsters.

Ever notice how much the Brits here are so full of anti semitism? Wonder if it's because they tried, but failed to stop the birth of the modern state of Israel?

....like this: Authorities in Gaza: Slain medic's teams' hands were raised as they approached Israeli border

Targeting medics is a war crime. And some people here call the victims of Israeli oppression 'animals'; give me strength! That's the same sort of language used 80 years ago by Julius Streicher in Den Stürmer to describe the Jews (now that's anti-Semitism; calling war criminals...er...war criminals isn't - do you see the difference?). Take a lesson from history and try listening to yourselves and take a look.in the mirror before accusing others of anti-Semitism

Or maybe they don't have the national blind spot that so many Americans have.

You're conflating anti-Semitism with anti-Israeli- war-crimes

No. I'm not. The British treatment of former concentration camp inmates trying to get to what is now Israel in the late forties was horrendous and well documented.

Remember the Exodus? Terrible! Re-incarcerating people that yearned for freedom. A stain your people will never wash off.

And what for? To maintain control of what was called palestine at the time. Just couldn't shake your colonial roots. As Americans, we are acutely aware of your treatment of your colonies. The Israelis and the palestinians should both be glad you were chased out of the area.

Most Brits appear to still be harboring a grudge over it. So much so that their vision on the matter is completely muddled. Some may even secretly yearn for the palestinian goal of wiping out the Jews to be realized.

We have lots of blind spots. Thank God. We love an underdog like Israel is one of them. If the Arabs and their partner, the anti Israel UN have their way, Israel will cease to exist and all their people will be killed. Hitler was a child compared to what the Arabs will do to the Jews if they get the chance. The UK lines up far too often wlth those that would completely destroy Israel and it's people.

You just have a different one. Historical resentment at being run out of "palestine" after WWII.

You seem to have forgotten how you treated the native Americans, or the black population, or the Mexicans trying to enter your country.

No, I once had the very same blind spot you had. But then when I started teaching History in Junior High and High School I began to dig a little deeper into the backgrounds of dogmas I once unblinkingly parroted. I suggest you do some research too .

You're still blind as a bat.

Supporting the Arabs and the UN in their bid to annihilate the Jews does not speak well of the British.

I am not British. I am American.

But I have lived in Britain years ago. In fact, having lived in several countries has helped me to get a better perspective on Christianity - and better insight on that particularly virulent strain of "Americanity " of which you are an embarrassing example.

Anti- semitism is Hating Jews just because they are Jews.

Play semantic games with that.
In that case I don't think anyone here hates Jews. So the charge of anti-Semitism is s straw man and should be treated as such.

Let's move on to a more sensible level.of discussion.

Some truths and some downright mistakes here.

First, yes, the treatment of some of the Jewish refugees by the British government was indeed shameful on occasions. But - and this does not in anyway excuse but rather explains and contextualizes it - it had its cause not so much in anti-Semitism but was the partial product of two sets of circumstances: (1) the majority Arab population of Palestine were concerned about being 'swamped' by untrammelled legal and illegal Jewish immigration (much as many Americans today are worried about being 'swamped' by immigration both legal and illegal from Latin America (Mexican Wall, anyone?)) and were becoming violent towards the British soldiers in consequence so there was a desire to keep the lid on that, and (2) the Jewish terrorist attacks alluded to by David Kent by the likes of the Stern Gang and the IZL which were both cause and effect in part of British policy towards Jewish immigration to Palestine.

But - and here's where you're wrong - few here are proud of our colonial past, apart from a few extreme conservative and far right figures like Farage...which brings me to another Schrödinger type puzzle on this forum: there have been a number of comments in recent weeks here on how far Britain has "fallen from greatness" and yet this so-called "greatness" was based largely on our erstwhile Empire. It seems odd to argue that we have somehow "forfeited" our "leading role" whilst at the same time (rightly) castigating us for what we did to acquire that role - and then chastising us for giving that up and apologising for it! Make up your minds...
