Palin’s Pipeline to Nowhere

The principal achievement of Sarah Palin's term as Alaska's governor, a natural-gas pipeline project backed by $500 million in state tax money, might never be built unless Canadian authorities can strike a deal with some of the country's angry Indian tribes. Approximately half of the proposed pipeline would run through Canada; native tribes who live along its route complain they haven't been consulted about it and are threatening to sue unless they are compensated. Representatives of the canadian tribes, known as First Nations, say Palin and other pipeline proponents are treating them with disrespect. The tribes' lawyers warn that the courts are on their side and say the Indians have the power to delay the pipeline for years—or even kill it entirely by filing endless lawsuits.

Crabby, do you ever have any positive messages about Palin? I don't see this as being Palin's fault. I see a bunch of greedy indian tribes holding up progress.

I made no comment. I just put it up for information. Would I put up something positive. Yes, if I felt it added information on her ability to be VP and very possibly president of the US.

Do you ever ask others, not to be mentioned, if they ever put up anything positive about Obama? Or Biden?

I do not dislike Palin, but I see nothing so far that makes me feel she is qualified to be VP.

All-in-all I am not happy with the choices I have this election ... but we have to decide on who is running and not what we would like. :tear:

If it is stalled or canceled by Native Canadians, the money will not get spent. I don't see how this is a strike against Palin in any way.

The problem is Palin is taking the credit and using this pipeline as a major accomplishment. In every speech she gives she say she built this pipeline which is an outright lie. The details of this pipeline have yet to be worked out so the truth is there is no pipeline. Not one shovel full of dirt has been dug.

What she now wants is approval to run this pipeline completely on Alaskan soil which would eliminate this obstacle. This is part of the Anwar controversy and why she wants to remove polar bears and other animals from the endangered species list.

Much of her record is as factual as those ads they been running on the TV. I think politicians should get sued for false advertising just like you and I if we made such outrageous claims about ourselves and our competition.

I agree here, I don't dislike Palin, I am just learning more and more she is not the shiny pretty package we were initially presented. Now that we're looking under the hood and kicking the tires I see used Volkswagen parts being sold in a Lamborghini body. I don't hate anybody for that, I just choose not to buy...

I've not posted anything positive or negative about either candidate except to comment on what others have posted. And Crabby, I haven't seen anything from you positive about McCain or Palin. And, I say this because you say you haven't made up your mind yet, But, your postings something different.

By the way, I'll take a used Volkswagen over socialism any day. And with Obama and Biden, socialism is what we will get along with hate crime laws, the homosexual agenda ratified with conservative Christians vilified, radical global warming agendas, liberal supreme court and federal judges, etc.

And as I have said before, I do not need to post anything negative about Obama. Others are covering that quite well. I think the strongest comment I have made about Palin is that I do not believe she is qualfied for the job. And I believe the strongest comment I have made about McCain is that I have lost respect for him in the way he has run his campaing or allowed it to be run. When I see something positive about Palin that I feel is germane to her qualifications I will post it.

Have you ask any of those who continually post negative comments and reference negative articles about Obama why they do not post any positive comments or articles?

And you are not getting Socialism under Bush? We have just, this week, had the greatest Socialist grab in our history. Have you really explored what the government can do under the Patriot Act? The American people have given the government very totalitarian 'rights' and Conservatives, who say they are for freedom and getting the government out of their lives have cheered loosing their rights.

Isn't this the same scare tactic we just accused Obama of in the other thread?

Why is it ok for us but not ok for him?

And I don't mind having a Volkswagen either, I just want to be told its a Volkswagen so I can pay Volkswagen price.

Nope, Obama is inexperienced bringing a message of hope and change. We know what we're getting with him.
A lack of experience does this...how?

Some people actually like grab bags. Well, with Obama, that's what they'll get or as Gomer use to say, "Surprise....Surprise.....Surprise."
