Palin linked to death threats against Obama

This is not an attack on Palin because so many of us have been guilty of a lot more. It's really to show my agreement to a statement widcatcher made, "Killing a persons reputation based on falsehood is the equivalent of murder". and will add to his statement by saying "or will lead to murder". I think this story also says how careful we have to be in our attacks toward others. You never know whose listening, how much of it they will believe and how they will personally respond to the allegations.

The defeated Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been blamed by the Secret Service for provoking a spike in death
threats against US President-elect Barack Obama

Palin said nothing more than was public knowledge. There were others who had a lot more influence than her saying that Obama palled around with terrorists. That's ridiculous. It's a way for the left to try to hurt Palin for '12. I can't believe the attacks are happening already. :BangHead:

Who has a lot more influence than a candidate for Vice President? I'll agree that John McCain had more influence. Who else are you talking about. Irresponsible statements that possibly lead to death threats for the President Elect are nothing to toss off as mere politics.

I don't recall anyone else saying palling. Yes his associations were public knowledge but the word palling insinuated much more than the truth.

Again though, I don't want t crucify Palin because this was her first national election and it was her handlers that should have known better.

What a bunch of <edited to baloney, LE>. The reference web site reports:

"The verbal attacks by Palin on Obama had provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric, the British daily said."

Fox News reported that the Secret Service had debunked that "so called" event. This just goes to show that the leftist media and democrats [looking ahead to 2012] will continue to harass Governor Palin though the election is over. Wonder when they will start on Jindal?

I am so sick of the leftist media....the NY Times tells the most lies of all, but the media is liberal in every way, just like the teacher's union.

Palin is not reponsible for anything a crazy person thinks or does.

I sincerely posted this to say we need to be careful what we say and how we say it. However, if the article is factual, what it is saying is they noticed an increased threat level against Obama about the time she made those allegations. Could be coincidence or it could be a direct correlation. According to the article, the Secret Service believe the later to be true.

And as far as I know, the Secret Service is non-partisan so have nothing to gain by attacking either party.

Hate filled accusations like this against Palin are ridiculous.

The problem came from her making hate filled accusations against Obama. He never paled around with terrorist and certainly wasn't during the campaign.

Again, she was new to the national scene and perhaps in AK nothing would be made of a something like this. The lower 48 is filled with diverse groups and one never knows how a statement like this can motivate a bad crowd. I again blame her handlers for not stopping her. Most of the country (all but the right) felt that accusation was way over the line. If you recall, that's when Obama went way up in the polls.

BHO is friends with William Ayers. He launched his political career from Ayers' living room. They sat on boards together. They indorsed one another’s books. They delivered speeches together at the same functions. I'd say that makes them pretty friendly toward one another and not just causal acquaintances.

You mean like the false and totally unsubstanciated claims (which you have yet to retract) that you made against John McCain blaming him for the fire on the USS Forrestal?

So you title a thread with a slanderous accusation... to say we need to be careful what we say and how we say it?

What is this supposed to be?

An example of what not to do?

Grow up.

True, and hate filled accusations and racist remarks about Obama are the same.

Are you saying that Palin made hate filled accusations and racist remarks?

Or that someone in this thread made hate filled accusations and racist remarks?

Or are you simply trying to place some sort of guilt on those who did not support Obama?

So in your world to say that someone is "pals" with someone with whom that person had a working friendship with is a "hate filled accusation"?

Your guy won. Why all the anger?

It think that maybe this election has had an effect on your emotion balance.

Seriously, you need to calm down a little.

The statement holds regardless of who speaks or writes them.

And the assassination of her character continues. The only bright light in the McCain campaign is being snuffed out right before our eyes. I for one am beginning to believe that the Republican Party is now a foot note in history.

LeBuick, do you actually believe this junk? How can you have any self-respect believing this? Obviously you don't have any.
