Oh,no, you don't want the French to have a revolution that isn't well-thought out again, look what happened the last time they tried that. If you really want to compare revolutions, France's was way longer, more violent, and unstable.

The motivation for the American colonies was freedom, an end to "taxation without representation", a desire for self-rule but France was "liberty, equality and fraternization" and the French wanted rights for the collective over the individual. And just look what happened, revolution followed by tyranny, back to the monarchy and several republics afterwards.

Tear gas, mass arrests as new Yellow Vest protests hit Paris

I really want them to stabilize the situation there - a bunch of cops have been deployed across France, and some of them are reportedly flipping.

Not so tyranical as the French king.

You just didn't like his laws, just as the French don't like the laws as their present govt.

The French PM blames the far right for taking over the protest, but there were two people on the news this evening, one said they were from the far right and the other from the far left who said "We are united in this. But after this?"

It was TYRANNY! :Cool

It was against scripture. "Pray for Caesar". He was far more tyranical.

We have had many tyranical kings such as Henry VIII and Mary I and Charles I. He was the one who caused the pilgrims to go to USA. Without him you would probably be speaking Spanish, or French.

George III was the last king to sign a parlimentary law because it went against his Christian convictions.
QE II signed the Gay marriage act although she seemed to be against it, saying it wasn't in her power to go against parliament.
Henry the Great (VIII) took us out of Europe and under European laws, but our treacherous polititions in recent years took us back in. That is why we have the Brexit shambles at present.

Really you Brits ought not to lecture us Yanks about government, you tyrannized us, we fought back we won. :)

Macron says He is raising the minimum wage and gioving tax consessions. A news report this evening said that if he had reduced the increase in the beginning iot would have all been setteled. But all sorts of peopel have joined in with their own demends, as well as tyhe rentamo joiniong in, both left and rght.

Over here we have the same problem with diesel. London, whichj already has a congestion charge to limit vehicles entering the central zone,. They now are implementing a charge for pollution.

The Metropolitan Tabernacle, the church began by Spurgeon, has about 10 or so minibusses and they will have to get rid of them because they are diesel.

I enjoy watching Europeans bankrupt themselves.

EU is not much bankrupting itself yet, but they sure are heavy-handed and stagnant, typical for statists. I don't see how this Macron can be promising a minimum wage hike and then say it's at no cost to the employer, he's not a dictator like that. I think the protests have morphed into a left/right united against the EU. like a pile on.

Now Teresa has cancelled the Brexit vote that was scheduled for today, she knew it would be shot down. Wasn't a very good deal in the first place. but now May is greatly weakened (like Macron, but for different reasons) and I doubt she can hold on. In retrospect, maybe she was the wrong person at the wrong time to implement Brexit, since she was never really for it. Whether this leads to a PM Corbyn or a hard Brexit next year remains to be seen.

These things are worrying, aren't they? Yet statistically, the risk is tiny. But I'll be praying for your family right now.

My family is back home this evening. They had an enyoyable time. The highlight of my 9 year old granddaughter's trip was "We had waffles."
