Pastors Can Now Endorse Political Candidates

BUT should we?
I would never endorse a man by name
Rather, I would mention moral issues - then encourage
members to vote for those issues.

Let me throw out a "what if
Candidate A -- Pro- life - but would preform a homose/ual marriage
Candidate B -- Pro-abortion -but would vote against homose/ual marriage

Whom would you support?
The issue is whether to advocate for people with flawed beliefs according to our understanding of scripture. Often, political candidates hide behind vague claims, (I am for family values?} leaving to the voter to ascribe their beliefs to the vague phrase.

On the other hand, I see nothing wrong with advocating for school choice, such that more people can send their kids to schools that do not undercut the ministry of Christ.

Some people today still believe Mr. Obama was a "committed Christian." Of course others see him as the leader of a "treasonous conspiracy."

But the bottom line, Salty is correct, we should not sidetrack our preaching and teaching with side issues, but should always present Christ front and center and our overriding priority.
