Pastors in adulterous relationships

Hello all,

I was wondering what everyone here thought of pastors who are in adulterous relationships? Should pastors who are in an openly, ongoing, unrepentant adulterous relationship be allowed to serve as pastor?

I know in town, there is a pastor at another Baptist church who is married to a divorced woman and I don't see how they can condone having him as a pastor.

Are we so backslidden as a culture that we ignore even Jesus' own words? Do we just care more about ease and comfort than God's word?

I'm sorry if I broke some sort of rule. I've been reading the board for some time and just felt strongly about this enough to finally post.

Thats no problem to me brother. Adultery is one of those sins some people don't want to hear about.... but it should be discussed. Have at it brother:thumbsup:

Jep, you broke no rule. Some people are skeptical of new posters because of problems with trolls.

My opinion. Anyone in a position of church authority who has tainted themselves, their church, and the reputations of both is not fit for ministry.

And with that, I bid you welcome. :)

Cheers.

You didn't break a BB rule - but to start with such a hot subject seemed a bit unusual.

Also, feel free to tell us about yourself in the Welcome forum.

Who says that being married to a divorced woman equals adultery? That's what we should be talking about, not the OPs intentions with his first post.

Does that qualify him as a pastor according to scripture?... I feel he has jeopardized his calling and maybe his pulpit is somewhere else... Welcome to McDonalds may I have your order please!... Hey I'm only saying...What the Lord gives he can surely take away... Brother Glen

Jep, the reason I questioned your first post on the BB is because the answer to the question should be obvious to anyone is who truly born again. Of course "pastors who are in an openly, ongoing, unrepentant adulterous relationship" should not be allowed to pastor. They should be removed from their office and subjected to church discipline. This should not even be open for debate.

How does a pastor who is married to a divorced woman repent?

....and after he is removed from office, what kind a "church discipline" would you use? What would you have him do, divorce his wife?

Probably not, but they will have to give account to God. Double.
