I turned it on today , as I always do. But I couldnt stomach it. I had this overwhelming feeling that it was just " FAKE". So I turned it right off. First time I have done that. No regrets. Thanks for your input

Ok Ok leave it up. It IS kind of comical. He is such a devote " preacher" isnt he? Ugh I so wish I could wipe that smile off his face, but I guess if we had that kind of money we would be in a constant state of " smile" too.

BTW I havent watched the 700 club all week. No regrets either LOL

I listen to Christian radio alot. Some of it is ok, I like Ravi Zacharias, Focus on the family, thats about it. I am getting turned off by a lot of the contemporary christian music lately so after focus on the family, and the music starts, i turn off the radio too. What I do want to find is a radio station that plays good old baptist hymns, like we sing in church. Now THAT would make me happy, that and of course you taking down that picture of the smiling clown LOL JK

I'll second Oldtimers advise. The BBN site is excellent...good Bible teachers for the most part and excellent NON contemporary music. They have a global reach getting into many foreign countries as well as here at home. They are based in Charlotte,NC. They also have an on-line Bible Institute with excellent Bible instruction that is completely FREE. Many well known Bible Teachers are part of their staff and the curriculum is very solid. Check'em out. Here is another link to a good Christian station in Pisgah Forest NC. It is a ministry of the Anchor Baptist Church and is on AM radio or 24 hour via the Internet: (WGCR.net Home) Check it out!

My Pleasure....!

Thank you Bro Greg. I will check it out.

Christian Radio has been and continues to be a tremendous blessing in my life. I believe it is important that we be careful what we "feed" our hearts and minds with these days. I rarely ever listen to any "secular" radio broadcasting anymore unless it is some news or occasional sports programing. Thankfully, the area my wife and I live in has an abundance of good, doctrinally sound radio sources....TV?...not so much...mostly prosperity preachers and charismatics on the TV...but lots of good music and preaching on the radio. Enjoy!

One of the things I like about BBN is they often play the old hymns that I sang when I was a kid in church. Even when I don't particularly like the style or rendition of a particular song, it's all what I'd call conservative Christian music.

That said, the station is so much more than that. During the course of a week, they have a wide variety of Christian programing. On their web site, they have a listing of programs by day and time. You can take a look at that to get a better idea. Plus, once outside work gets shut down for the winter, I plan to enroll in their Bible Institute studies. .

BTW, I'm not the one with the "clown" picture. LOL I'm one of those throwing darts at it everytime I see it on someone else's post. :wavey:

Brother Greg, thanks for confirming my thoughts about BBN. I'd just about given up on watching/listening to just about anything except local TV news & weather, when I found BBN.

"good Bible teachers for the most part" is why I listen. Also enjoy their selections of music for the most part, too, but that's secondary, IMO. We can't grow in the Word, if we can't hear the word. Proverbs 2:3-6 (KJB) are some of my favorite verses. They begin: "Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;". BBN helps to fill a hunger that isn't satisified on Sunday morning and Wednesday Bible Studies.

Thanks, too, for the link to another good station. I'll check it out, for potential listening when BBN's programing is directed towards children in the afternoons. (That's are good, too, BTW.)

Edit: Just added WGCR to my favorites bar, based on what they're playing right now! However I made a mistake. I didn't turn down the volume at this time in the am. Sure I woke up the whole house! LOL

Woke up the whole house did ya??? It sounds like you keep the same kind of late nite hours I am currently keeping while I've been out of work....I usually don't even go to bed til somewhere around 4am. I'll have to re-adjust my schedule when the Lord opens the door for me to have another job.

Anyway...glad you are enjoying WGCR....if you want to hear some good preaching in the afternoon they have their "Pulpit Hour" broadcast at 2pm EST every M-F with a variety of good preachers mostly from the NC area (although there are others).

God Bless you Brother!

Bro_Oldtimer (may I ask your name?)....here are some more links for you and anyone else who is interested for good on-line preaching and conservative Christian music for your enjoyment and edification! See the following:
WTBI Radio Stations (The radio ministry of the late Dr. Harold B.Sightler's Tabernacle Baptist Church in Greenville SC)

Rejoice Broadcast Network (The Radio Ministry of Pensacola Christian College)

Old Fashioned Christian Radio Music & Preaching

Old Fashioned Christian Music Radio

Fundamental Broadcasting Network

That's most of what I have flagged right now but these are good sources that I would recommend anytime that I believe are a blessing from the Lord.

Nope. Don't think so. Turned it down quick enough, I think. It probably startled me, more than them. LOL

I usually don't stay up late. My routine is the other way around. Go to bed with the chickens and usually have to wake up the rooster in the mornings. Tonight will probably be the same. I'm already yawning, as it's been a long day. Spent most of it at church doing some renovation work. These old legs aren't as spry as they used to be when it comes to going up and down a ladder all day.

Thanks for the extra links on good Christian Radio. All except the second one worked fine. Some kinda gotcha there that wouldn't let me listen for a bit. I've bookmarked them to check them out when I'm not yawning so much.

Wow! Going from just one station to several! Now I get to pick the best from each, when I have time to listen. The last one has a local station, so should be able to hear that one when I'm off line, too.

May our Lord richly bless you for sharing with others.

PS: I sent you a PM.
