    ftr,

We cultural conservatives will remain split until Ms. Miers' confirmation hearings take place. I think that will clear up a lot of things and we will come into more agreement at that point, either yea or nay.

Until then cultural conservatives should probably drop the arguing as I don't see it as being productive at this point.

Conservatives better get ready for a big disappointment if this lady is confirmed.

President Bush & Senator Harry Reid are not conservatives, folks.

I seriously doubt I will be disappointed, LadyEagle.

And I have no doubt at this point that Ms. Miers will be confirmed.

But then I try to live my life as an optimist, not a pessimist. [IMG]

Sorry, I didn't know that a person cannot say nice things about someone unless he pretty much agrees with that someone politically.

I know about the Beltway, LE, but as well as trying to live life as an optimist, I also try not to live life as a cynic. [IMG]

Having been apart of the Right to Life movement
in the DFW area...I respect Christians who played
    by the rules...gave money,resources,time,prayer,lobbying,letters,and a
myriad of efforts. They did it right or course their
were a few wing nuts along the way that were of the
fringe (thank goodness they are in jail or have been
executed). Joe B has a point...decades, millions of
    people have prayed and given.

I just want to say I respect those who did it the
American Christian way and non-violently..with that being said.

THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!FOR SURE!

No one has a right to know how a nominee for the SCOTUS will rule on a case. We must have an impartial court system, not judges that have their minds made up before they even hear the case argued before them.

The majority of the Senate is not conservative. Under that scenario he would send up a nominee that the conservatives that don't like Miers would like even less. </font>[/QUOTE]You didn't answer my question.

It has really come down to a focal point, it is all
about overturning Roe Vs Wade lets be nakedly honest
here...those of us who gave resources materially
and spiritually(hopefully in humbleness). Have lived
for this day and days that their hoped for overturning of Roe vs Wade is at hand and yes they
do not want to be guessing.

Nakedly honest again..it'S about being an activist
judge on one issue and one issue only...OVERTURN
ROE and give it back to the states and yes I know the argument on that one, but it has been the goal
for sooooooooooooooooooooooo long of Very Good
Christians who played fair and square in the political realm.

This for me is not conservative or liberal it is
about respect for those who ..DID IT RIGHT!

    Sincerely
    Aslanspal

I think our moderate President sent up a benign candidate to try to play to all sides. If President Bush were a true conservative, as we who voted him in thought he was, he would have nominated one of 40 or so fully qualified seasoned conservative strict constructionalist judges. But he did not and that is why the conservatives, including me are upset. She is an unknown, and since the Presidents "understanding Putin's soul," nonsense, I haven't trusted his judgment fully. I would have preferred that he send up these fully competent individuals, one at a time, till the Congress tires and picks one.

I have no statistics to offer. I was simply stating my opinion.

    Exactly. [IMG]

Ken, there is nothing wrong with being a political cynic. It's not like, after all, our government has never lied to us and politicians are looking out for the American people and not their own self interests.

My optimism only comes from the Lord - not from the soul less political system which has allowed generations of Americans to be butchered in the womb without being afforded due process and without consideration of their constitutional rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

One thing I agree with Buchanan on is that the President ducked the fight.

And I believe it was a fight a lot of conservatives were looking forward to.

The implied threat of the Miers nomination aimed squarely at democrats is, this is your chance.

Blow it and I'll run a hardline conservative at you, force you to filibuster, force the "constitutional" option fight, win it, and then cram one strong conservative after another down your throats.

Democrats better give that some serious thought.

The absolute piling on, jumping to conclusions, etc., exhibited by some of the opponents of this pro-life judicial nominee is absolutely appalling.

I thought the folks at WND and some other supposedly conservative opponents wanted to see Roe v. Wade overturned. I guess I thought wrong.

It sounds better on paper than it does in real life. The Republicans in the Senate are divided. Bush took a pounding from Katrina; the war goes on; there just is not enough political capital to wage a fight. The conservatives talk big and act small. The conservatives are letting the country club pay the party bills and that is why the conservatives are weak. Also, Evangelicals don't ever want to get their hands dirty by picking up the garbage and taking it to the dumpster. The Evangelicals after 6 years of Bush still do not have a candidate for President. The culture is in nearly total decay but the Evangelicals are off trying to say that they have been concerned about the court for 40 years. Maybe but most Evangelicals aren't that old. The baby boomers who are running things now are a modernist generation. And look what a disgrace to logic the far right has become.
