You only tell a small portion of the story. It is not necessary to have scripture referenced in the Constitution in order to prove that the United States of America was founded on biblical principles.
If you will look in the Declaration of Independence, not only will you find the phrase "Endowed by our Creator" but you will also find the phrase "The Law of Nature and of Natures God".
When you refer to the Kings assertion that they had a divine right to rule over the people of Europe you are correct. And in the Declaration of Independence the colonists declared that the King had actually overstepped his authority through his tyranny. And in rebuttle to the Kings assertion that the Colonists were in rebellion they appeal to "The Law of Nature and of Natures Law".
This phrase was well known, used and understood by the Colonists. It was common in England, spoken of by Blackstone in his comentaries of English law which was relied upon by the colonists and required reading in their schools. It is taken from the writings of Paul in In the book of Romans, and Psalm 19. It is refering to the testimony and witness coming from all of creation that speaks to God and his glory and how they give testimoney that God has set in place certain laws that cannot be denied nor avioded.
All that the Declaration goes on to say is based on the premise that God has provided men rights that cannot be usurped by the king.
Secondly, The foundation of this country is based on more than the Constitution. A knowledge of unrevised American histroy will help you to understand this.
Our Country was established by men and women who had a biblical sense in all matters. The bible was the main text book in all their schools. Their sense of morality came from God and God alone.
The foundation of this country is more than paper work but it includes the every day lives of the men and women who began it, fought for it, lived with it, and died for it. The foundation of our country is our American history as a whole.
I would say that your view of patriotism is the narrow view.
