As to "copyright rules" - what makes you think that if it aired on the program, and it was not authored by Harvey, that he did not get permission to air it?

Do you know NOTHING about the industry Mr. Harvey is in?
no but his father-inlaw is does. He is a radio big shot that couldn't land paul Harvey!!!11

Well 999 times out of a 1,000 I am in agreement with Bro. Curtis, I just think he has a personal ax to grind on this one and that is okay too.

Nice try at dodging the question, TS. However, Bro. Curtis was talking about YOU posting this, not Mr. Harvey getting permission. YOU posted the piece, YOU misattributed it. Take responsibility for your actions. And the ad hominem, asking Bro. Curtis if he can read, is most nasty and demeaning.

My father in law told Mr. Harvey to keep his program. And his station succeeded without it.

It's nothing personal. It happens to me here all the time. I sure would hate to have someone take credit for a song I wrote. No matter what the message was.

Have a great day, all.

Yes,

I do, but that is fine.

I've actually written the headquarters for the Paul Harvey people asking for the specifics regarding date and time. If they respond I'll let you know.

I can't tell you because when I hear something like this I don't grab a pen and pencil and jot down a note going, "Oh, I need to remember exactly when this one played on the air!"

Now, since you feel you have the rights to put ME through the Spanish Inquisition - let me put YOU through it.

How "reliable" is your "source" that it is NOT his creation? Did they check with Mr. Harvey himself?

You see, I have found in my life a few "urban legends" listed on similiar pages that were, in fact, NOT legends. They had just been circulated so long that people forgot the facts they were based on were facts. So, not all sources like "snopes.com" are reliable.

TS, you made the assertion that it was written by Mr. Harvey, not I. Therefore YOU have the burden of proof.

Once again, you try to dodge and deflect.

I also think it serves free debate and discussion better when we do not pass personal attacks between each other. We can agree. We can disagree. We can agree to disagree. We can debate respectfully. We can ask for more information without being personally disrepectful.I think if we try to do these things it will raise the level of debates and discussions.

Acutally,

I have now gathered your data. The ascertation that it was written by Paul Harvey was made by the Denver Post.

Snopes.Com admits that they sometimes list things that are more truth than legend as false. Snopes.com reports that they believe this was written by Nick Gholson.

I've already posted a source citing when it was read by Paul Harvey, and hence attributed to him.

I do hope the "burning at the stake" is over now.

Magnetic and Curtis - I can sooooooooooooooooooooooo fell your "christian" love. *rolling eyes.*

There, now don't you feel better ?

Expect your posts to be challenged. That's a good rule to live by.

Also, if you had answered the challenge after MP pointed it out, instead of telling him to ignore it, and focus on the message, we wouldn't have had two pages of back & forth.

But don't get discouraged, please.

TS I wouldn't have done it. That was completely ridiculous.
Like you said who takes down notes on everything they hear so they can satisfy someone's uhm 'challenge' ?! I sure as heck don't.

Brother Curtis,

Oddly, I expect Christian attitudes from a board for Christians, especially Baptist Christians. (Go figure! Baptists having a Christian attitude? What a thing to expect!)

See, I expect that because Baptists SAY they believe in God's word, and God's word says not to fight over little things because it detracts from the message that is being told. It says, that people who DO like to fight over little things are people to be avoided because they have the spirit of division. Very interesting little passage of scripture actually.

NOW - I woke up this morning to the unfortunate news that someone I have shared a very deep friendship with for 29 years is gone. The news that another very dear friend lost her father. The news that ANOTHER dear friend got a bad report on her cancer.

And I came to this board, strangly enough, hoping for a little uplifting spirit. Imagine expecting that from a Christian discussion board!

I shared with this board something that I received in the mail from one of those individuals mentioned above. And, I find, instead of discussion over whether people agreed or disagreed with the content, an attack. A very personnel attack that even others on the board commented on.

I have, fortunately, seen the love of Christ in MANY people on the board today, and I thank them for it. EVERYONE who responded to the post about news, and everyone except you and Magnetic Pole here.

Interestingly enough - the offers for prayer for me, or the families of my friend who passed, came from sources that don't even profess to represent Christian values, and not one came from any member of this board.

As a proffesional musician, copywright laws are very important, to me. It is not a little thing, to me. I would encourage you to take them seriously as well. It's how professional musicians and poets make their living.

Second, the only rude comment on this entire thread was directed at my father-in-law. Nobody attacked you, at least I didn't.

Third, I'm sorry about your friends, sincerely sorry, but that has no bearing on what is happening here.

Fourth, there is a prayer request forum here, there would be a great place to look for fellowship, and ask for encouragment. That's where I went when my dad went under the knife for an emergency triple bypass.

I wish your friends well.

Curtis,

I am a poet, and I am a writer. I have been the victim of having my work stolen, in the professional realm. So, I have a great deal of respect for copyright law. However, I do not attack people the way I was attacked, when they post something that they were told was attributed to a certain individual.

If someone had stepped foward and said, "I believe that this was written by a sport's writer, and attributed to Mr. Harvey in error," it would have been one thing. As it was, no one was helping the proper writer. They weren't really interested in it either. They just wanted to try to discredit Texas Sky.

Discernment is an amazing thing.

I disagree with you though. I think you made several rude comments yourself.
