So the Catholic redifining of terms made it into the dictionary, shock of all shocks.

Now, like I said, find me a thesaurus with "say" listed as one of the synonyms for "take".

Quit letting the RCC define your Bible for you.

The King James says take, not say. I already showed that one of the definitions is to use a name profanely or without proper respect.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. -Exodus 20:7

In Swedish, from the 1917 års bibelöversättning: "Du skall icke missbruka HERRENS, din Guds, namn, ty HERREN skall icke låta den bliva ostraffad, som missbrukar hans namn." Missbruka means abuse.

In German from the 1912 Lutherbibel: "Du sollst den Namen des HERRN, deines Gottes, nicht mißbrauchen; denn der HERR wird den nicht ungestraft lassen, der seinen Namen mißbraucht." mißbrauchen means misuse.

The most basic translation of the Hebrew is lift up.

So, "Thou shalt not lift up the name of the LORD thy God in vain"
