I just do not understand why wearing a mask has boiled down to Democrats do and Republicans would not if it saved their immortal soul.

I wear one in certain places - church, grocery store, doctor's office - and if others don't, that's their choice.

And there is just as much evidence, maybe more, that they don't. The CDC has been so wrong so many times on so many things, it's very hard to consider them a reliable source.

The death rate is not even close to the Spanish Flu the writer is comparing it too. It's not even in the same ball park

Add that to the fact nobody, and I do mean nobody, has any idea how many people have contracted Covid nor how many have even really died from it. We may have millions of people that have had it and recovered without symptoms and have never been tested. Even the tests are miscounted and there may have been thousands upon thousands of false positives.

So the death rate is meaningless. Too many mistakes and lies all around.

It will climb until we have arrived at having a total natural immunity among the population. That's what happened with the deadly 1918 Spanish flu. There was no magic cure, nature took it's course and then it was basically over.

Unfortunately, we'll never know if they really work. It's become political. Once that happens it becomes emotional.

I remember when the SG came out and explained very clearly why masks could potentially be problematic for the wearer. I remember when Fauci said the same thing.

I remember when people started wearing them, the first thing I noticed were people constantly touching and fidgeting with them. I wondered then, if they would be germ catchers for most people.

To this day, while I wear one in public in-door places, I wonder if their effects are beyond negligible.

This guy is 80 years old and has had his life, and now it seems to me, all these older people who are telling us what to do, are the ones scared of dying from whatever next virus comes along.

Hey, I'm 83 & think this "mask wearing" fiasco is at least 99% political. I do wear one when in a store simply for the "comfort" of believers, or if that particular one requests it, but I am certainly not upset if someone else decides to go maskless. This is a hill I'm not gonna die on!!

I really feel for people that have trouble breathing with masks. Especially people required to wear them at work. I have heard that some doctors are concerned about health issues that can arise from masks, particularly breathing problems.

Well, you haven't said anything about the OP except quote a 100 year old assertion that masks didn't do much to stop the Spanish Flu. I think we've learned more about viral transmissions since 1920.

Then the article you cited claimed the death rate from Covid is declining, and it clearly is not. So I don't put much stock in what you posted.

And neither you nor the articl make any better case for wearing a mask than the one i posted does for not wearing one.

Basically it's a stalemate.

All we know for sure is that Fauci, the CDC, the WHO, and the Surgeon General all said masks were ineffective and not needed before they did. Apparently their original statements were just outright lies.Their credibility on the subject is shot, as far as i'm concerned.

Bottom line is that , for every study or article you can post touting the effective of masks, I can post one that does just the opposite. We've been lied to so long and so often about so many things, I no longer believe anything they say.
