    We started out as a Constitutional Republic. But I think if we reflect on what's been happening in America for at least the last decade, as a slow evolution of change in the political nature of America, we'll find we're best described now as an Oligarchy. Rather than what once was the case of being a Majoritarian Electoral Democracy.

    At least that's what the research titled:Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens, by Martin Gilens and Benjamin has to say.
