Photography?

I don't see a photography forum. A young actor came to me for headshots. He paid me $100. I want a photographer to look at the photo and tell me if it's a $100 photo.

I'm going to return the money. It's too much. But I want a photographer's critique of the photo.

Does photography violate the 2nd Commandment? "You shall not make for yourself...any likeness of anything..." a complete sentence and thought before the next sentence comes, "You shall not bow down to them or worship them..."

No, photography doesn't violate the Second Commandment. The Hebrews made plenty of "sacred" images early on; look at the description of the Ark of the Covenant. The absolute prohibition came later after the Israelites had to undergo exile to finally shake the polytheism bug.

And there is a dormant photography category on the "travel" forum under hobbies, int ent.

The second commandment is all about CHEATING GOD out of HIS rightful and deserved glory.

When we see an image of His creation (as in His earthly temple in Israel) it is there to promote His glorification and not the worship of its image or even its representation (e.g a pomegranate).

I got feedback a while back. And the client said his shot was equal to or superior to any other that he'd seen. He was in New York interviewing with acting schools, so I feel good that he has gotten his money's worth. :)
