I only know 3.14. It has been so long since I’ve used it in math equations, I doubt I could get much further

Years ago, when I attempted to help my children with high school algebra, I discovered solving equations has changed, in the most convoluted ways possible.

You know you are getting old when solving even simple math problems has changed so much you don’t recognize it.

peace to you

3.14159 is what I have used since my teens. Memorizing numbers past seven digits takes effort. In the old days when telephone numbers were 7 digits I could remember numbers. Now that you have to use 10 digits, I can't remember a phone number unless it is a simple one. I remembered PI out to 3.14159 instead of 3.141593 simply because if you rounded off PI to the seventh place it was not the same last digit it would be if you rounded it off to the eighth place, if that makes any since to you. I always figured it was best to stop at a number that was the same whether you rounded off or not.

3.1415926535
If you round to that many places then it becomes 3.1415926536 because the next digit is 8. So the next place one does not need to round up is PI to 3.14159265358979
Now it do happens PI to it 32nd decimal place is a zero and it does not need to be rounded up either.

Also if you follow the odd even rule on rounding. Because 6 is even PI can be not rounded up at 3.1415926. The next digit being a 5 and not rounded up.

How I remember PI on a regular calculator.
After 3.14
Diagonally up 1 5 9 and next.
Diagonally up 2 6.
