Pickled Version: KJVO

I believe the Nehushtan sect (2 Kgs 18:4) teaches actually that God has "pickled" His Word in the [KJV], instead of preservation. All reliable translations preserve His Word, such as:ESV,NASB,ESV,NKJV,NIV, and the [KJV], too. However the Nehushtan sect has the Word "pickled" repeat after me: "The V in [KJV] means VERSION"




NOTE: Edited to capitalize "KJV." The King James Version is a version of God's Word and will not be denigrated by using lower case letters when all other versions in the same post use upper case.

The conflict is with a philosophy regarding the KJV and not the KJV itself. You need to separate the two.

In a vain attempt to try to sway by twisting language, the Nehushtans (I like that) refer to the King James BIBLE - like anything else is not a Bible.

It is a VERSION as you point out and proponents of it should be honest.

I used the ASV1901 and was extremely disappointed to see its newest revision, the NASB use the term "Bible"- again implying it is the "real bible". Sad. Deceptive language.

Also, it is NOT the AV1611. That is vastly different as so many threads have shown.

And "what is different is not the same". It cannot be the same thing.

I know,it's truly sad that they trust the shoddy "scholarship" of Philosophers(Colossians 2:8, KJB) and Gnostics over the Graeco/Syrian MSS.(and Bibles) of the reformation.

Is there really such an implication here; or is this only an inference on your part? Do you have any data to support your assertion?

If I say I have xyz "version" of the Bible and someone else says that have a abc "Bible" (NOT a version), what other implication can there be.

One claims to be a version, the other claims to the a Bible. Vast, vast chasm inbetween.

Hope it is not just bias on my part. Anyone else see this? I know some KJVonlies that MUST use KJB, not KJV since it is the only "bible".

Not in my opinion. After all every English version I own says HOLY BIBLE on the front cover and on the side. Following you logic, all versions claim to be the Bible.

The Lockman Foundation named their work the New American Standard Bible. The words “New American Standard” describe which Bible it is. The name of this message board is the Baptist Message Board. The word “Baptist” describes which message board this is. Is this Board implying that it is the only real “message board?”

I have a first edition of the American Standard Version and guess what the name of it is on the title page? “The Holy Bible,” using the definite article rather than descriptive adjectives. Am I to understand, even from this, that Thomas Nelson & Sons implied that their Bible was the “real” Bible, and that the Authorized King James Version is not really a Bible, but only a “version?” The “American Standard Version” is not a name created by the publisher, but a name that was later adopted from the press. Thomas Nelson & Sons originally referred to it as the “American Standard Edition of the Revised Version of the Bible.”

Actually, I will agree with the KJVO on one point that the KJB is a monument to the preservation of the Word of God since I include translations of His Word as A "preservation" of that Word.

IMO, The KJB (should the world last as long) will in a thousand years take its rank among the greatest pieces of literature (and particularly Holy Writ) both secular and divine that the world has ever seen.

Having said that the latin Vulgate is/was probably in second place of monumantal translations.

Give credit where credit is due.
