Where are indulgences taught in scripture so a person can buy their dead relatives out of purgatory?

Where are offering babies as a sacrifice to Baal taught in the Scripture so a person can buy their dead relatives out of hell?

Erecting a straw man is so much fun. I see why you do it repeatedly here! I’ll try to think up some more and we’ll see who can come up with the most outlandish one.

You never answered my question...and it isn't a strawman.
The Roman Catholic Church teaches indulgences as a means of freeing the dead from purgatory when there is no biblical support. It is heresy from the church you consider the group that gets to determine what is heretical or not.

So, please answer my question.

That is where I depart from you, friend, as I am a new convert to the Baptist principle of liberty of conscience. There is no such body, as you propose, that is free of doctrinal error, nor should there be any such body with authority to force its beliefs on anyone. That has been tried in the past with disastrous results. It is also contrary to the teachings of Jesus.

Then there is no knowing exactly what is or is not the Christian faith. For if there is no authoritative body, organ or mechanism to declare authoritatively what is or is not the faith, then the Christian religion is completely subjective and becomes whatever one decides for himself what it is or is not.

Well, you tell a lie about Baptist churches, I speak truth about the Roman Church.
The Roman Church, to this day, teaches indulgences. There is ZERO scripture to support it. In Martin Luther's day, Rome taught that paying indulgences would get the soul out of purgatory quicker. Now, the Bible doesn't teach purgatory and it doesn't teach methods to get out...yet, the Church at Rome (the Mother Church) taught this as though it came from God.
So, you obviously are playing a game of avoidance and distraction because the church you think of as God's spokesperson on earth is filled with heresy that you cannot defend.

Our King is the authority. He is the head of the Body. He gives us (his children) all we need for life in his word. Since Rome is so terribly wicked, God brought his children out from under its bondage and directed them to understand unmerited grace through reformation. That wicked church at Rome rejected reformation and has continued in its path away from the King.

Non-sequitur (agumentum ad passiones), no content.

---> If God did in fact bring his children out of bondage via the Reformation, why aren't all Protestants Lutherans?

It is historically documented in my case. In your case, you pull it out of your imagination. Thus, you show your contempt at being proven wrong.

Because God does not tie himself to the State as Rome, the EOC and Lutherans have done.
You cannot seem to realize that the Kingdom is not tied to a denomination.

Another non-sequitur. (Does not answer my question.)

---> If God did in fact bring his children out of bondage via the Reformation, why aren't all Protestants Lutherans?

Follow up: ---> Who then delivered the Calvinist from the bondage of Lutheranism? Who then delivered the anabaptist from the Calvinist and Lutheran? And who delivered the Methodist from the Anglican, etc. etc.?

The answer to these questions affirms my previous assertion that without a body, organ or mechanism to authoritatively declare what is or is not the faith, Christianity becomes a religion of subjectivity. Hence the result is the continual division and creation of new sects, all with competing and contradictory doctrines. For example, by the end of the 16th century alone, there were nearly 300 different Protestant sects already formed.

You keep having fun. It is apparent to all what you are doing. Go run back to your holy roman see.

You seem to reject the biblical truth that Jesus is the body and head of the church. You seem to replace Jesus with a denomination, in your case, Roman Catholic denomination. Your narrow-minded understanding is evident to all.

And right on cue here's another one! I'll play along again...

You seem to reject the biblical truth that Jesus is the body and head of the church and instead have Baal in his place. You seem to replace Jesus with a denomination, in your case, the Baptist denotation. Your narrow-minded understanding is evident to all.

Straw man are really so much fun. You can really attack anything when you build these!

You seem to have no clue what a straw man is, which makes your response here even more apparent to others.

You seem to have no clue that you have built enough straw men that even the big bad wolf wouldn't be able to blow them down.
