What is a gay registry? Pardon my ignorance; I've never heard of it.</font>[/QUOTE]Oh, I misnamed it; actually it's called a domestic partnership registry.

If you go to opalga.org (OPALGA = Oak Park Area Gay and Lesbian Association) then page down to 'achievements' it's the first one listed, that they established this.

AITB: I wholeheartedly agree that being persecuted at least occasionally is part of being a Christian. HOWEVER, I draw the line at that persecution happening at the hands of government employees in a government-run school, in a country where freedom from such treatment is supposed to be guaranteed by the basic law of the land.
I don't believe we'll ever eliminate this kind of thing, though, so don't worry about Christians never facing persecution (admittedly low-level) in this country. Besides, there are opportunities for persecution and harrassment outside of the government. And you are right that facing a little persecution once in a while can be both an educational and growth experience, even for a kid. That doesn't mean we shouldn't oppose illegal compromising of our rights when it happens, though.
Thanks for your comments, and a very happy Independence Day to you too, my friend!

I understand, Walguy. I think this is something concerning which each believer needs to seek the Lord's will, about their own response, when people seek to limit their freedom unreasonably.

I wouldn't want to tell anyone else what to do; I would rather have them ask the Lord themselves and then do as He tells them, as best they understand that.

My main concern is standing up for our rights is not why we are here so I hope we are somewhat careful to keep the main thing the main thing - "making disciples of all nations".

It was a nice family day - thanks! I hope you had a great day too
