Who was responsible for having drivers for all these buses?

Its easy to say someone in Washington should have done this or that but those buses were already in New Orleans. They didn't seem to be short on people. Was it asking too much of the Mayor or Governor to assemble drivers for the buses? Were they just totally paralyzed with helplessness? They could have carried at least 60,000 people one way and done it before the storm ever hit thus eliminating the need to house people in the Superdome and the services that needed to be provided there.

When people finally realize that the local officals created the majority of this mess and realize what viewpoint and party they represent you'll see liberals and Democrats running for cover.

I had forgotten that the mayor had asked for volunteer drivers from amongst the tens of thousands of people still left in New Orleans.
