I miss the way things were, but I do not deny the way they are now. It hurts to lose things we loved and were accustomed to, but ... Christians are called to love, and we are a body responsible for all our members, not just our virus-resistant members.
Doctors used to mock soap and refuse to use it. It took awhile for that to change.

Looks like your preacher is in a visitation booth in prison.
I have not seen a church yet that had front row closer than 6ft to the pulpit. A good Baptist preacher don't stay in the pulpit anyway.

I'd probably just have kept distance between the pulpit and the congregation. But each congregation has to decide (it is not a bad idea).
Plus if the sermon is poorly received and people start throwing hymnals the preacher is protected.

Well if a preacher has the tendency to move around and I know observing some of them over the years they don't stay put... Especially exhortation preachers who have a fire in their bones and can't stay still... Then I suggest, they copy some of the NFL Football coaches and wear a face shield... Brother Glen

We are not yet, but it looks like a hair rained idea our pastor would love. I am sick of hearing all the crap our Covid safety committee comes up with. I don't pay nare bit of it any attention.
I'm thinking, "Really?" One task of a pastor is to combat fear, not spread it. "Perfect love casts out fear."
Instead of a pulpit shield, I would suggest a pastor on his knees pleading with God to spare his flock. Then he should come confidently before the church to spread faith in God's ability to protect.

I think this is a very big country and a one-sized-fits-all approach is inappropriate. I think we should trust individual churches more and support them through their experiments at a such a new thing. If we think we see a sibling being foolish, we need to pray for them from a place of love and family ties
