Pneumonia Vaccine

Ok....quick question if you had one -

I got the vaccine. No problems. And then a week later it itched at the injection site, a knot came up and it was warm. This morning every thing was fine.

Is this common?

I had it last year. I didn't have those symptoms, but I just looked up the side effects of this shot and it did say a lump and warmth among other things. I didn't see itching. But itching stands to reason if a knot appeared and there was fever at the injection site.

Not uncommon.
The needle probably hit a small blood vessel causing a small hematoma.
Warmth and itching is a common reaction to the internal bruise.
If it continues for more than a week or if your temperature spikes notify your doc.

Thanks. I wondered because it was a week later, but looking around it seems this happens sometimes.

A hot compress will help after a vaccine. I've had that happen sometimes with a vaccine - it just really depends on where it hits. Just remember that is WAY better than getting the illness you are being inoculated against!
