Police prepare for unrest

Police departments in cities across the country are beefing up their ranks for Election Day, preparing for possible civil unrest and riots after the historic presidential contest.

Public safety officials said in interviews with The Hill that the election, which will end with either the nation’s first black president or its first female vice president, demanded a stronger police presence.

Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots in urban areas (following professional sports events) and also on Internet rumors.

Democratic strategists and advocates for black voters say they understand officers wanting to keep the peace, but caution that excessive police presence could intimidate voters.

See, Roger, I'm not crazy for thinking there could be riots....Things may not go so well here in America like they have in times past on Election Day.

That's good news. I hope they can prevent the voter fraud and intimidation of poor black voters that gave GW Bush the White House in 2000 and 2004

Give one clear prosecuted example.

I would be interested in seeing your facts as well. I am surprised you are not aware that George W. Bush was NOT elected out of deception. Or perhaps you are aware but still harbor ill will therefore it clouds your judgment.

I think it’s wise to have the extra safe guard out. I guarantee if Obama does not win there will be riots.

I suppose you have an example. If so, give it to our government. They couldn't find one instance.

You know, I've heard if you tell yourself a lie often enough, you begin to believe it...

And perhaps this could be the catalyst (excuse) to apply some of the more scary executive orders signed over the last few years and implement martial law in Amerika. Fascism, here we come baby :tonofbricks:

Yea, it would be terrible if all those illegal voters ACORN registered were so scared they actually obeyed the law. After all if they don't count the illegal votes then democrats don't stand a chance. That's what you meant to say right BB?

I have a hard time believing that there can be enough illegal votes to alter an election, it would take thousands. That being said anyone who tries to vote twice or otherwise breaks the election laws needs to go to jail for a long time. They are attempting to alter the outcome of an election and that should be a major crime.

Even poor black voters are not intimidated by the Police if they are not breaking the law BB. I think your inference that people of a minority race are intimidated by the police is racist. I mean that in of course the nicest most loving way BB. :love2:

Since we have 20 million of them in the country and a good many if not most were given voter registration cards when they got drivers licenses I'd guess you have thousands if not more.

Well, the voting fraud question in Florida went all the way to the supreme Court before that court gave away the election to George Bush in a highly controversial decision. Is that high enough for you?

Boy, sticking your head in the sand is one thing, but refusing to pull it out is -- well -- you pick the adjective!

You obviously have a very poor and/or selective memory to keep flailing this ole dead horse!

I really find it hard to believe that this lie is still perpetrated; but then there are still many gullible sheeple out there.

Not true, you haven't seen how blacks view the police in the cities are especially in the south like NC. That is your neck of the woods and I would think you knew that or are you blind to the "guilty till proved innocent" treatment a lot of blacks receive.

Black folks ARE intimidated by police, especially those who have been on the wrong side of the law.

But if they got a drivers license then the registration should be valid.

No, it doesn't.

The truth doesn't depend on where you stand...

You can choose (either through naivete or willful ignorance of the facts) to reject truth. But the truth is that GWB did not steal the election...and there has not been ONE documented case of racially based or otherwise voter intimidation from 2000 or 2004.

So stand wherever you like, but the truth is independent of your perspective.

I'd like to see some documented cases, if you please.

Criminals should be intimidated by a law enforcement representative. No matter what color they are. That's the nature of being a criminal.

You are correct, actual or factual truth is not dependent on perspective.

However, what you are I believe is truth does. Who knows who is right short of God.

Example, it was once considered true that the world was flat. Great minds at that time even provided proof. We know now that was never the case.
