According to that, I'm an 80% conservative. I'd say I'm further toward the right corner than that.

Right Conservative--30% personal issues & 70% economic issues. Some of the questions are vague. For example, I support reinstituting the draft in the event that Obama gets us in World War III next year. As Coolidge said, the business of this country is business so I am not against the government putting in an interstate ramp to accommodate warehouses in the county where I live, as another example of why the quiz is general instead of specific. I do not care for sodomite "marriage" and I am against the legalization of vices. As Lester Roloff used to say, modernist don't care for people in the ditch, so most Americans, who are now neo-barbarians, could care less what happens to the down and out as long as they themselves are okay. Young people are not inheriting the America that we knew and loved but a bankrupt society with a worthless currency and a movement toward socialism and federal control.

Another quiz from a while back had me as a neo-con--but that quiz was asking more about my personal opinions on personal issues rather than my view of how the government should handle them. Was a little confusing.

Libertarians are not very popular in Indianapolis. In several close contests they have cost the GOP just enough votes to allow the Democrats to take over Indianapolis except for the Mayor's office. Indianapolis is now going the way of all big cities after being a boom city in the 1980's. I imagine that the Libertarians are trying in vain to sell their homes and businesses in Indianapolis before the blight overtakes them.

Not all libertarians are necessarily with the libertarian party. Some of them don't officially support any party (me currently), and some do indeed feel that third parties do little more than split the vote, so they try to work with the Republican Party. (Ron Paul, who was rejected by the republican party. His son Rand Paul, currently with the republican party I think, has libertarian leanings.) Others feel that we need to get away from the two party system and can't in good conscience support either.

I think the basic idea, the entire base of the quiz, is that libertarians believe that the government should be both out of economics issues as much as possible, AND out of personal issues. Conservatives tend to agree on the former and not so much on the latter.
Yeah, that's probably a bit too simplistic to use as the entire basis for a political quiz, since there's more to it than that and there are different kinds of conservatives and different kind of libertarians.

Exactly, right. The GOP was born as a social-issue party and that tradition is very strong still. You cannot persuade me that it is good for men or women to be prostitutes or good for people to be addicted to narcotics or that states should be involved in gambling with lotteries, etc. And I don't want Indiana or the USA to legalize same-sex marriage. And I don't want liquor stores open in Indiana on Sunday.

Libertarians tend to be well-to-do but their prosperity will be eroded if their pipe dreams of leaving people in the ditch and putting more people in the ditch were realized. I agree with Lester Roloff that modernists don't care for people in the ditch and I consider Libertarians modernists for that reason. Now Democrats are post-modernists, aka neo-barbarians.

Okay, I'll bite.
Approving of certain things and just believing the government has no business regulating and wasting tax-payer money on it are two very different things. Libertarianism is merely a political philosophy, and it is very possible to hold traditional values--and uphold those values--while being libertarian. They simply believe that there are better solutions out there than the government.
