Actually, I think he was busy being president all day while Senator Kerry was at the hotel spa.

Besides, what the other guy supposed to do while his opponent is speaking and bad-mouthing him? Stand there looking like Mr. Spock?

I was just thinking how differently he looked from four years ago. Four years ago, they said he looked like a deer caught in headlights. What a difference four years makes.

Now that you mention it, Senator Kerry does have some of the characteristics of Mr. Spok! I think the Prez Bush was looking around for Scotty to beam him up.

It's always amazing to see how much four years of the presidency ages someone. It's a hard job with pressures that might crush many of us.

It was rather disheartening for me to see President Bush today on the campaign trail with the vim and vigor, enthusiasm, and articulation he lacked last night. He was preaching to the choir today instead of millions of viewers like last night.

One thing I do know is Dick Cheney will chew up and spit out that little trial lawyer punk John Edwards. Whatever anyone thinks about Dick Cheney, he has been around the big political machinery since he was in his early 30s and the man exudes confidence, strength, articulation, and all the other grand adjectives I can think of, IMO. Besides that, I think he's good looking, LOL.

It's easier to repeat slogans than answer questions and articulate ideas.

I thought he seemed confused and disoriented. He seemed to have difficulty putting sentences together.

I predict that President Bush will do much, much better in the next debate on this coming Friday night.

I thought he looked like he was stunned that Kerry would get up there and say the things that he did. Anyone who has followed this campaign knows how much smoke Kerry was blowing. For him to say he has had one consistent position on Iraq was so far from the realm of reality that I don't think even Kerry believed it. It was obvious that Kerry was repeating answers that he memorized. There are some things said in life that are so stunning and incredible as to leave one speechless. Bush was often left in that position.

I don't think Bush was confused or disoriented. He does have a much more thoughtful style than Kerry. I was surprised that he wasn't more smooth with his delivery given his preparations. He does have a much less polished style than Kerry and I think that is why a lot of people see in Bush a genuineness that they don't see in Kerry ... that, and Bush hasn't changed his position on the war.

Bush is not a Reagan or Clinton when it comes to debating and lacks their charisma. I think the formal setting may have caused him to be off in his game or he was just tired. I think Bush will do better in the Town Hall setting because of his good ole boy personality. I would not be surprised if he is on his game like he was in the 2000 Debate with Gore next time.

I pretty much agree with Pastor Larry. I really am not impressed by one who's main advantage is their ability to not pause and think a moment before speaking.

I think you're right. He has to. Another one like that, and he's in trouble. I think people will generally put one such debate off to a bad night, but a second one would hurt.

I think Bush to quit coming off as a whiner in the next debate. Maybe he's surrounded by so many "yes" people in the White House, he was stunned that someone would critize him in public.

It might help him if he quit avoiding press conferences and actually find out that not everyone is in love with his policies.

Just because you're certain, doesn't mean you can't be wrong.

Among other things. I was very suprised to find that in his recent visit to Ohio, which is most likely THE critical state that will decide this election, his visit Saturday was attended by people hand picked by the Republican Headquarters. They were die hard fans, long time volunteers for the party, and other such nonsense.
While that's nice and all, I don't think it was a good political move. In fact I think it showed cowardice. There are a number of undecideds, and had he taken the opportunity to speak with them he may have swayed them to his side. He also may have looked better and gained more followers if he'd not avoided the undecideds and Kerry fans and instead talked to them, especially in that county and bordering Ashland county, where many people are suffering financially because of all the factories that have closed out or skipped town in the last couple of years.
That he didn't leads me to believe he had something to hide, or didn't care enough to discuss the issue with anyone except those whose vote he was already assured of.
What a waste of time.
Kerry may flip flop and tell people what they want to hear, but hey, it's apparently working for him. It may be nice that Bush refuses to tell people what they want to hear simply to gain votes, but he's gone way overboard by not even telling people what they NEED to hear.

Doesn't he have people to tell him this stuff and work it out?! I'm really suprised at recent events, he should fire them all! Hire me.
