Phil. 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at HOME with the Lord. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; Philippians 1:23 "I go to prepare a place for you." John 14 Ephesians 2:19 fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God's household, Heaven is our Home for the Saints. But for the lost who ignore the Lord.......Hell.
Phil 3:20... you need to understand the concept of "citizenship" in the ancient world, especially Roman citizenship. E.g. Roman citizenship was not to return to Rome (don't think of American citizenship the same way) but extend Rome to the world, for that is the glory of Rome (so it was thought). The salvation of Roman was peace to the world (Pax Romana). That was the mindset of Paul and citizenship. He was governed by God and spread his rule to the world.
2 Cor. 5:8... the word "home" is not in the text per se but is part of a verb which does not necessitate what you are requiring. Study this out a bit more here.
Col. 3:3... really???
Phil. 1:23... to be with Jesus is far better, no argument here. But especially when he returns to this earth, resurrects the dead, and restores creation... HERE on earth!!!
John 14:3... considering the theology of John and the temple, this is not even a reference of heaven... as in "my father's house" or Bethel (house of God) or temple
Eph. 2:19... really again???
Follow the story of Scripture:
God walked w/ Adam & Eve ON EARTH
God dwelled w/ Israel in the ark of the covenant in the temple ON EARTH
God lived w/ Israel in the temple ON EARTH
Jesus as Emmanuel is not us with God but God with us... ON EARTH
The church is the temple of God, the Spirit living within us... ON EARTH
New Creation concludes this story with Rev. 21:3, ""Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them..." or in this case a re-created paradise superior to Eden... ON EARTH
