    1) The president is not a military leader in that he doesn't lead troops into battle. I find it incredible that anyone in the 21st century truly believes that a woman can't make a wise decision to send troops into battle if necessary.

    2) I will be 50 in 13 days. How old are you?

Just curious, but did any of you with this rather eccentric view about women leaders have a problem with Margaret Thatcher as the leader of Great Britain in the 1980s?

You mean you lived before the adoption of the U.S. Constitution that states that the Congress has the power to declare war? :D

</font>[/QUOTE]It isn't the sending troops into battle as much that worry about. It is the staying the course issue that concerns me.

What the Brits do is their business. The discussion here is about a woman for US President.

After three pages, I am still not sure you have correctly comprehended what you have read about my views on female leadership. Why don't you go back and re-read everything I have written thus far and see if you can correctly represent my views?

Figures that wouldn't want to admit if you liked the job that Maggie Thatcher did. ;)

That's neither here nor there. We don't have a Buckingham Palace in the US, either.

You're sounding like a Washington, D.C. politician, LE.

I have a suspicion that at least some of you who are so opposed to a woman president in the U.S. think that Maggie Thatcher was just peachy as the prime minister in Great Britain, a position which equates to the position of president in the U.S.

I'm just not sure that the "some of you" have the guts to admit your inconsistency. [IMG]

I may be wrong, but the Brittish people didn't vote for Margaret Thatcher. They voted for local Conservative Party members of Parliament and those members elected a leader of the party that happened to be M. Thatcher. And, no, I would not have supported their decision to elect woman leader, as I don't support any Christian's decision in the U.S. to have a woman assume the most authoritative position in the entire United States.

The fact that Deborah assumed leadership shows just how bad things got in the days of the judges! That the Bible records that a woman was in charge was not positive statement, more like a statement of how badly the nation of Israel had deteriorated. The Bible is NOT replete with examples of God smiling on women usurping man's God-given authority, contrary to KenH's false surmision.

I *heart* you. I don't doubt there are women capable of running this country, but it's a rare find. A woman as Commander in Chief, no, definitely not.

    When was that?

US Constitution Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11

Mrs Thatcher did a fine job of leading the UK and her partnership with President Reagan in bringing down communism was one of the most important events in human history.

Deborah was the leader of Israel. God determines that women cannot exercise authority over men in the church, and that women are to submit to their husbands. There is no indication in the word of God that women cannot exercise political leadership .

I don't understand your thinking that "maternal instincts" disqualify women from being effective CICs. After all, who is more fierce defending the cubs, mama bears or papa bears? Papa bear may be better at taking over other bear's territories, but I don't see that as a plus.
As though men are NOT emotional. Women in general may express their emotions more openly or, at least, more verbally, but most Southern men can out emote most New England women by a mile and a half.

And, again, maternal becomes fierce when threatened.

And if you deny that men are every bit as emotional as women, then you don't understand people. Do you think that getting into street fights is triggered by rational thought? Do you think that sexual predators are rational or driven by hormones and emotion? Or is it that you don't consider aggressive emotions to be emotions? Most men I've met are every bit as sentimental as women, although men tend to hide theirs while women tend to exaggerate (especially around men) what they feel.

Yes, but prejudice seems to blind you. If you judge a person as "too materal" (whatever it is that you mean by that) simply because she is a woman then you are a wretched judge.

Hmmm...your hysterical giggling kinda undermines your arguement that men are stable & unemotional as compared to women.

    Interesting poll, LE.
I voted that I am a political conservative who would never vote for a woman for president, but was frankly surprised to see this view in the lead in the poll as it seems my view is in the minority in most places anymore, including here on the BB I thought.
I would agree with LE and Joseph, although I am totally closed to the notion of ever voting for a woman, and have shared the experiences of Texas, in that I have worked for many a man and woman in my life, and I'll take a man as a supervisor any day of the week. The majority of women I have worked for have tried to act like men and it has been neither beneficial nor pleasant.
C4K, I was wondering how you look at Isaiah 3:12. Is this in a context of judgment on a nation? I'd be interested in your view. Thanks.

This type of thread always makes me sad.

There are high ranking women in the military.

There are many women leaders in this country and in the world.

Women are emotional. Men are emotional.
