Nice I'm only about six hours away, sounds like a vacation to me. Isn't Jesse James home there also?

The Jesse James Farm and Museum is in Kearney, north of Kansas City about 25 miles. That's where he was born and raised, and where he is buried. Interestingly, it was just a few years ago that First Baptist Church of Kearney removed Jesse's name from the rolls of membership. He'd been a member from childhood.

If you like those moments in history, you'll likely enjoy the Battle of Lexington historical site, which is just about 40 miles from Kearney. It was the site of a bloody three-day Civil War battle in 1861. The Oliver Anderson house changed hands six times in those three days, three times on the first day. A cannon ball from the battlefield carried well over two miles (can you say "extensive overuse of gunpowder"?) and lodged in the far western column of the Lafayette County Courthouse.

There is so much lead shot embedded in the walls of the Anderson House, it is marveled that it remained standing, and still does.

I grew up in a small town straight up I-35 about 90 miles north of Kansas City. Been to all these places many times over the years.
