Old timers used to make headcheese from the pig's head.
Headcheese must equal souse meat then. I used to help my granny pick the heads clean to make it.

Pigs' feet are good, but they are a lot of work and messy.

Veggie bacon?!?!?!? That's an abomination to... something... but it is definitely an abomination. :D My daughter used to say she could never be Jewish just because she would have to give up bacon. ;)

Seriously.

Pig trotters were the one meat we could get free during the war in London.

I love English pork pie, but sadly, English pork was banned from Canada at one time and it was never opened.

Lamb and rabbit, however, are my meats of preference, when I eat meat.

Cheers,

Jim

This is my first post since surgery (hip revision) 2 weeks ago, and yes, I eat pork. As a rule, I don't eat it often, but every time I taste bacon I think I miss a good treat. The members of my BFG [Bible Fellowship Group] have been bringing food over to helpless me, and the best thing has been bacon quiche, which I am eating sparingly to make it last.

How did the surgery go? How are you feeling? It's great to see you back again. :wavey:

Thanks for the welcome back. Surgery went well, and they told me follow-up xrays looked good last Friday. I feel well enough to get out, but I can't drive yet.
