Posting a notice about our Youth Group

Sometime last century , when I was a junior in High School,
I asked permission of the principal to put up a poster adverting
our Church Youth group. He did give said permission, and up went the posters.

I mention this to someone at our church -
and the youth director said I should have had the permission
of the church to put up some posters.

What say you - did I need church permission to put up a sign for our youth group in our public High school?

It sounds like your church was organized around decision-making, not ministry.

I dont remember exactly why Carly was concerned- maybe he thought he should see the sign first to make sure, what the sign said was acceptable. I guess, I just figured that I was a matured enough Christian to make a responsible sign.

Then about a year later, the church voted to end Shipmates - the High School program of AWANA. It was a very intense study program - I was the only one that really got into it. Everyone else said it was too much work. So, no more HS AWANA- instead, they had a Fri night fellowship - just games in the 1/2 basketball court - a short devotion and that was about it. I went 2 or 3 weeks - and decided, I did not want to waste my time anymore.

I attended one of those “game nites”.
A young man drove me home afterwards and on the way simply asked me if I was a Christian.
It was the beginning point of my salvation story.

I;m not saying they are bad - my concern was that the other kids were not interested in good Bible Study. Now, if we just had a fellowship night during the summer, ect - fine.....
