    Bro Ernie,

I want you to know that the stand you take is a rare one today. This is proven by what is seen on these posts. It is a sad day we are in, being lumped together as Independant, Fundamentalist Baptists when most don't have the least bit of an idea of what that truely means. It is also seen when a "controversial" topic comes up, if you look at the profiles of those that whole-heartily disagree, they don't even tell what church they attend; some won't even call themselves what they are claiming to be.
After I was saved, I remember a fire that wouldn't stop burning inside. A fire for the Lord. And it is still burning today. You, Bro Ernie, post truth and sometimes truth hurts. But when there are people that try to refute even what God has given in His Word, it is sad.
Keep going Bro Ernie, you may be rare, but you're not alone.

    Dear Granny,

    You posted...

I see by the smiley in your post that you knew my statement was tongue in cheek.

The bigger issue however is indeed legalism.

Any practice of "holiness standards" to impress God or man by our works and/or way of life.

True holiness has a different standard.

Not to "impress" God but to "obey" Him in a pro-active but spontaneous way.

Only our heavenly Father knows for sure (and not even we ourselves (...the heart is deparately wicked, who can know...) what is the motive of the heart.

The evidence is by the fruit that we bear for all too see.

The works of the flesh or the fruit of the Spirit.
    Galatians 5.

And OBTW Granny, there is vulgar language here at the BB, I've seen a post or two on the BB before the administrators had the opportunity to sanitize the words.

Just letting you all know that we keep watch on the General Forum NOT to censor or keep ideas (even really bad ones like the KJV is the only Bible in English today, Ernee!)

We cut out cuss words and warn unruly members. Can't think of the last time I ever "threatened" someone. [IMG]

To say it mildly, we have a GREAT VARIETY of strange birds roosting in the "Baptists" tree! Nudist Baptists that are evangelical does conjure up a scarey picture . . .

Just curious, Dr. Bob, do you have a reading problem or are you trying to be cute by mispelling my name? Or maybe it is your way of showing contempt for one who disagrees.

I overlokked it the first few times as a typo but it is clear it is deliberate.

How you spell my name matters not, but it appears there is an attitude problem. Grow up!!!!!!

Ernie this board is amazing, as I read this thread I found someone early on making fun of your spelling. I was about to respond and remind them how rude that was when I came across another post from you where you made several spelling errors. I had to then rethink my plan, but to top it all now you are harassing Dr. Bob for his spelling. I just Pray that I have spelled everything correctly, so I won't be attacked. Yes one of your posts was tough to read but let's all get over such petty squabbles. Let's all love one another and atleast be respectful when we dissagree.

Oh! Please pray that the administrator of this Bord will install a spell checker! Yes I make spelling errors, imagine that, just as many others do. But when the word is on the screnn before me I attempt to look at it to make sure it is spelled right! Now, please forgive me for taking this thread down the wrong path and lets get back to the task at hand:

Attacking anyone who would try to point out that some have turned aside from serving God and are serving self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Granny,

Spose I shouldn't take room in this thread to answer Granny, but will anyway. I think Dr. Bob is just trying to irritate me and thought I could get him to admit it. He didn't ake my bait :(

We had a good service this morning.. You know some of the "legalistic" preaching, trying to get us to lead lives acceptable to the Lord so he can use us?

Brother Ernie - As you know, when you type a message as I am doing at this minute, you cannot see the previous messages and the names of all those who posted. I did not realize I was transposing the "ee" from your last name into your first name.

I do LOTS of things to poke and prod, and some for humor or effect, but brother, this was simply an honest (and not funny) mistake. I will try to take better care. I honestly have been called all kinds of names on the BB and never give it a second thought.

Now I will have to go back and see WHAT I posted that actually got you so riled up that you started fussin' at me!!

Naw Dr Bob, sorry if I sounded riled. Sometimes my wry humor is misunderstood. I Thought you were just trying to get a rise out of me, and was trying to return the favor.

The objective question then becomes, "What is truth?" Can the truth be found in the NIV? Yes! Can the truth be found in the NASB? Yes! Can the truth be found in the CEV? Yes! Can the truth be found in the KJV or the NKJV? Yes! Who is to judge what the truth is? Can people live Godly lives using versions other than the KJV.....YES! Some of the KJV people need to quit spouting off about the KJV being the "ONLY" Word of God. It simply is not true. If it was the only acceptable version, then people would need to be teaching people English all over the world so that they could read it, and the King's English at that! I still love my KJV and read it regularly. But, I also use other versions. I've led people to the Lord with other versions. I praise the Lord for HIS ABILITY and the Spirit of truth that shows people from the versions I've mentioned.

I was told by someone I would probably be censored. I don't know. If I am, I am. That is the right of the moderators, and those of you who are going to other boards and voicing displeasure about censorship and saying "You'll be censored for this" or "you'll be censored for that"...if you don't like this place, please, either conform to the rules or leave. For some of us it's a very enjoyable place to come to.

To think, some people actually wonder why I'm sometimes ashamed to admit I'm in the IFB camp.

    Hey, Granny,

    Yep, that's me.

The "Landover Baptist" thing was a joke that I really regret having done now. Nobody got it and I was shocked at how upset it made people.

At the time I listed that as my "religion", I was still new here and didn't really understand what was going on here on BaptistBoard.

I put down "Landover" on my profile for two reasons.

One is that I didn't have one full time church I was involved in.

The other is that I was poking fun at my own goofy attempts at religion and the well meaning, although comically misguided, attempts to get on God's good side that we all share.

I had this idea that people would ask themselves, "Do I really do that" and that we would help keep each other in check, but instead, all it did was cause a lot of anger and hurt feelings which, believe me, was the last thing I wanted to happen.

Believe it or not, that's not the worst thing that I said as War_Eagle that I'd like to take back.

    Don't sell them short, granny.

Most of my time as a firefighter has been in the 'burbs.

I spent a little while as a smoke eater in Philly, but mostly in the 'burbs.

I think the biggest thing I ever did was in the weeks following Sept 11.

A bunch of us jumped in an ambulance and went to NYC thinking we were just going to man the canteen and hand out coffee and doughnuts and sandwiches to the rescuers.

We did that, but we also spent a lot of time at their stations and those guys run a dozen calls a day.

We all know what they're capable of from Sept 11, but what they do on a normal day is just unbelievable.

I think all firefighters and medics are in awe of those guys.

Ernie, I don't think anyone's problem is so much with what you believe, (otherwise, how would you explain the many other here who believe similarly to you and seem to get along well with everyone?) but how you present yourself.

Personally, I'd love to talk to you about what you believe, but I can't get past your nasty attitude.

The funny thing is that you seem to acknowledge that you treat others badly and you don't seem to want to behave in a Christlike manner. That seems to be more confusing than anything else.

    Warm Christian greetings!

Ernie Brazee does not have a "nasty attitude"; what he says is absolutely correct, there is a great deal of compromise to-day among those who call themselves Evangelical Christians. Standards of holiness have slipped badly and there is often very little difference between the "believers" and the world.

In my experience as a Christian unsaved people have no respect for so called "christians" who have low standards of holiness.

My only advise to Ernie is simple - don't come down to the level of your opponents, keep your head up, you have the Lord on your side!

    Kind regards

    Robert J Hutton
