Php 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will.
Php 1:16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
Php 1:17 The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.

There are some on this board who claim it is their job to be sharp tongued in debates over doctrine and they persist on beating people up over everything they can think of.

The debates that go on on this board are not done out of a desire for Christian fellowship and discussion but to beat people up, to beat people down, to prove those who disagree with them are wrong.

It is done out of a rivarly and has nothing to do with the good will of the others. There are some who are just wanting to give a theological beat down out of selfish ambition with no sincerity involved. They use debate tactics instead of honest conversation. It is about winning, rivarly, and selfish ambition to be right and make sure the other is seen as wrong.

It is time it has changed.

Should this thread be titled, "Posts out of self-righteousness and judgement." Or "Can I dig the speak out from all of your eyes."

I've found myself getting irritated with a lot of the threads lately. So I'm sorry if I have seemed a bit snappy or short.

Some of the attitudes I've seen here remind me of some discussions I've had and/or observed with gay rights supporters; they (certainly not all, but many) can be very hostile, know-it-all, act like you have to fully support their opinion or else. We're supposed to be different from the world.

I post rude, yes.
But those IN RESPONSE to snide side insults to Calvinism and Calvinists, or subtle insults and downgrading.
Not that I am a Calvinist, Lord knows I have had some arguments with them, too, maybe not on this board, but in person, but those discussions have always been for the most part civil.
Why do I feel I have to take their side ?
Because they, as I, have found comfort in the Scriptures we both hold dearly, and we have no need of people calling us who believe in the doctrines of grace terms or phrases which openly or disguisedly disparage these Scriptures and doctrines.
Now, until those who do not agree with Calvinists and those who hold to the Doctrines of Grace (as we call them) are able to post their counter-views without phrases and words that can be interpreted as insulting, I make no promises there will no longer be rudeness from me.

Well, it is never to late to start over. Drop all the ridicule, insults, personal attacks, snide remarks on both sides because there is no one this forum that is not guilty.

So, what do you say, lets shake hands and start over?

This is a DEBATE forum. You sound like a sore loser. Maybe the problem lies with you and you're not cut out for realistic Bible debate. Maybe you should just stick to politics and news.

Amen here too.

Also note this fact, he knows no one else's motives (which one 'mod' says is breaking the BB rules, and yet here we have an entire thread dedicated to this and he comments on it himself). The OP really needs to take a long hard look at himself, at the way he behaves, at his stalking of the reformed brothers he employs from thread to thread with his broad brush and unfounded accusations. Yes, he needs to stick to political threads and news and steer clear away from theology wherein he struggles with himself mightily. Hey, if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.

Micah 6:8

8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Wow, I see I put in to have remitchell reinstated over billwald? I recant and spoke way too soon not knowing him. If I did know I'd never had made that statement.

'Lay hands suddenly on no man' now has a new application.
