Pot ...the other buzz!

The bible says we are to do all we do as unto the Lord. It is impossible to smoke pot for recreational purposes for the Lord as the result are always some kind of buzz or high. All and any drug use for recreational use is sin. We are permitted to use drugs for the relief of pain and suffering only. I would question any person's salvation who uses drugs for recreation based on scripture.

By the grace of God, I have NEVER smoked pot or used any other illegal drugs. Even if my doctor prescribed pot for medicinal purposes, I still wouldn't smoke it. When I was 13, one of my brothers got me to try cigarettes by saying, "If you want friends, you have to smoke like they do." I reluctantly took a cigarette from him and let him light it. I took one puff off it, threw it on the ground and mashed it out and said, "I don't need friends that bad." There were two other teens with us, and not of them said anything to me about it; they knew I was right.

It's only by the grace of God that I have not used any illegal drugs of any kind. Some might accuse me of bragging when I say that, but I give God the glory. I suppose the main reasons I never got into a lot of things was because of the lack of money and the lack of "friends" to influence me. True friends wouldn't entice you to do something that is illegal or harmful just to be your "friend".

You didn't miss much. Like I said, all it ever did was make me giggle like an idiot for ten minutes and fall asleep.

I once won a bag of weed with two rolled and ready to smoke. I smoked one and a friend smoked the other just before going to a HS football game. I was 18. I remember laughing a little but nowhere close to a beer buzz. Maybe I didn't smoke it right. Never smoked another.

A friend and I took our first dip of Copenhagen in HS in between morning classes after a few footballers asked if we wanted a dip. I was already bumming chews of Brown's Mule, Days-O-Work and Cannon Ball when I could. What could it hurt? I was 17. The Copenhagen made my head spin for hours. That first dip was more than a beer buzz. I crashed in the band room the rest of the day until band started. I remember much laughing at my expense. Gave up the chew and dipped until I was in my 30's.

When people made fun of Bill Clinton for saying he didn't inhale, I used to laugh. Clearly, they never smoked pot or else they'd know that most people who don't already smoke cigarettes don't inhale the first several times they try it. It's something you have to learn to do. You probably didn't inhale. On the other hand, if you're my age, the pot back then wasn't nearly as potent as it is today (or so I hear). That could also be why.

For the record, I have no doubt that Clinton was lying about not inhaling, but that's another story.

I smoked marijuana during my oncology treatments, and it cured the nausea, and stimulated my appetite.

I do not know how to feel about recreational use, but I don't believe it is a dangerous drug that we need to spend billions of our dollars in a futile effort to eradicate it.

Pot isn't great, but the "solution" of government intervention is worse.

Same here. I hate Pink Floyd. But when I smoked pot, they were suddenly all geniuses. Sane with Jethro Tull. Don't get me wrong, Martin Barre is one of the most underrated guitarists around, but normally I can only take one or two songs and the rest all sound alike. But when I smoked pot...

Incidentally. there was a reggae/dub version of Dark Side of the Moon, called Dub Side of the Moon, that's actually much better than Floyd's original. But I digress.

Jethro Tull's album "Aqualung" is so blasphemous that I can hardly listen to anything they do. It's a shame. I thought they were great.

Same with Frank Zappa. An absolute genius (who eschewed drugs, gays, and hippies), but who can possibly sit throughout those lyrics ?

Kansas had some good progressive rock, great jams, without all the bad subject matter. Same with Yes, and Emerson, Lake, & Palmer.

I'd like to see people quit being paranoid over hemp products. Hemp is not pot/marijuana, and you can go to the store and buy hemp seeds, hemp oil, etc.. right now and use them. They're just imported from other countries because the dopes here are afraid that people will smoke the THC free hemp plants and not get high. LOL

I do think it's a problem if people want to use it, or any other drug, for "recreation." Taking a jog or playing tennis is recreation, not using drugs or herbs and seeing how you feel. LOL I have to wonder why they started using that term! Makes you picture it as an Olympic event.

As far as the "culture," the description almost reminded me of church culture. They hang out in groups, distrust others who are not part of them, paranoia about the plans of others on the outside, it's a subculture, you kinda have to be part of it to understand. HA!

One, they aren't "free" of THC, they are low-quanitity THC, but that just means they match the 4-7% content that home-grown marijuana had in the 60s and 70s. Two, the fear of "use" is not what hemp is illegal. The real danger is that people who grow hemp would also grow cannabis sativa amongst the legal hemp plants, and it would take law enforcement weeks to do DNA testing on the plants to determine which kind they are.

Yes, we know. The rest of us do, for the most part. The reason? It isn't "medicine," there are far better acceptable alternatives.

Your definition of a "better choice of medicine" is not mine. When it comes to my body and my health, you are not in a position to know my needs, my conditions, and what is best.
That is something best left to my Creator, myself, my doctor, and those who have studied the plants, herbs, and medications available, and how they work for the particular health needs I have.
You're not a part of that, thus not able to tell me if there is something better, worse, or that will do the same, so why do you insist you have that power and knowledge over me and others?

You won't find anyone, particularly your Creator, who thinks smoking pot is a good idea, unless that person happens to be employed by a "medicinal marijuana" outlet.

You're not a part of that, thus not able to tell me if there is something better, worse, or that will do the same, so why do you insist you have that power and knowledge over me and others?

I can offer advise. It's up to you to ignore it or not.
