Prayer request

Recently I was asked to pray for someone's dog (not salvation but healing). Do you believe such requests should be honored? Can you point to any passage in scripture that would parallel this kind of prayer so as to make it justifiable?

I think one time i read or heard John Wesley was going to a revival and his horse got sick on the journey and he prayed for it's healing and the Lord healed the horse. In a circumstance like this i think it would be permissible to pray for a animal that was being relied on to get a man to a place to do the work of God. In your case, no i wouldn't pray for the dog.

Really? I pray for my pets all the time. They are God's creation for our enjoyment and companionship. I thank God for them.
:thumbs:Amen. My concerns for the welfare of the pets are in relation to the people who own them. I know pets can bring great enjoyment and companionship to many people... and those people grieve dearly when the pet is sick or dies.

It would be safe to say there are people that believe animals go to heaven when they die too.

I certainly believe it is possible. We know that there will be animals in heaven, (Horses and Lions) so it is entirely possible that our loved pets can indeed be included.

While you're discussing it. will you pray for my dog?

Yes, I pray for animals. They are His creative creatures, and if they belong to some family and give comfort to that family, that makes them as worth being prayed for, or more so, than let's say the house, the car, the job, the finances. After all, they are living breathing things, and I believe God honors and answers those prayers.

And since you are talking about this, please pray for my kiddo. We had to take her for emergency surgery [to remove a foxtail from her paw]. Not only was this a prayer need, it came at the end of the month when we are driving the car on fumes and pinching every penny.

Because our pets come first, when sick or suffering, we thank God for plastic money.

If someone asked me to pray for an ill pet, I'd pray as asked, and believe God for the answer.

However, then again, that is me...and I know some here do not adhere to what others may or may not believe. Just know that if your dog, cat or hamster need's prayer, there are a few on this board who will agree with you in prayer. :praying:

I also believe that our pets will be in heaven. If God created it, He for sure can see that it makes to eternity. Heaven would be a little less special without the love of His animals.

I have prayed for you, your wife, your 'kiddo', your car and your financial situation.

If animals are in heaven, they will be doing what everyone else is doing... praising Christ.

If animals are not in heaven, I do not believe for a second it will be any less special.

....in a moment of passion I got swept away by my love of furry things. Heaven will beyond exceptional and highly special, just becuase we got there by the Grace of God!

God cares about the sparrows, and so I don't think it's wrong to pray for our animals. If you think that's bad, I pray for my machines. My truck, my van, my sawmill, my tractor, my chainsaw. I pray for them to keep running and not break down, so yes, we pray for our animals too.

But I do feel a little bit funny asking other people to pray for my animals. I consider pets to be a luxury, and thus we don't have any pets at our house. We do have livestock (only chickens and guinea fowl right now). We did have pigs. I did pray for our pig not to die, but I didn't call all my friends and neighbors and ask them to pray for my pig not to die.

Well i think it is selfish if you pray for animals when you could be using your breath to pray for humans. Of all the things to pray about, the bad shape our country is in, our lost love ones, christians that need our prayers, sick people that need our prayers, churches and pastors that need our prayers, so do you think i am going to wasting my time in prayer to pray for a animal, get real.

There are plenty of scripture in the bible that will guide us in what to pray for but i can't find a scripture that even hints that i should pray for animals, can you ?

Are you saying that YOU need a directive from the scriptures......

Or you dont pray???

Goodness, sometimes I will pray about just about anything that comes up during the day that needs prayer. I pray while driving. At work somtimes. while I am out bycycling. While I am cleaning around the house or cutting the grass, etc etc
Praying is an integral part of my day..It comes naturally for me..I talk with God all day long, and He talks back.
