Prayers that have been answered in the affirmative.

We all know that God answers our prayers, but sometimes the answer is no. How about those times when there was a unequivocal yes?

Our house had been for sale on and off for over 5 years (we no longer lived in it), and we had tenants but we really needed to get rid of it as it was us costing more each month that their rent covered. We had laid our problem on the Lord but nothing was happening - no bites from prospective buyers.

Well last September at church the Deacon gave a sermon saying if we wanted our prayer answered in the affirmative, we would have to pray unceasingly. I looked at my wife, she looked at me and we both said okay God, you are going to get so tired of hearing from us you will send us a buyer. It was morning noon and night of supplication from both of us. If we got up in the wee hours of the morning the prayer would come out of our mouths.

Well, three weeks on we get a call from the realtor on a Wednesday that a lady had saw the house and wanted to come back for a second look on Friday. The next day (Thursday) we get a call again from the realtor saying the main water intake had broken and they would send a man out on Friday to repair it. That's it I said, this lady is just not going to buy it with this happening.

So then Friday the lady showed up for her second look just as the plumber was digging up the front yard. Later that afternoon the realtor calls and I am expecting a no go on the sale. To my surprise, the lady had made a lowball offer. I counter offered and she accepted my final price despite the broken water main. During the subsequent house inspection it was discovered that the radon level was too high, but again the lady still wanted the house and we worked that out. All I could say was a big thank you Jesus - we got our lives back!

(And we never stopped praying and thanking God until after the realtor called me back upon the signing of papers at the closing). Actually, we still thank Him to this very day. So that's my testimony of the value of prayer, what's yours?

It's always good to show gratitude for God's gracious kindness in response to our wishes. (Yes, on form of prayer is a wish.)

I distinctly recall a wish being granted by God.
I was longing to talk with a friend that I had lost touch with. (This was before the Internet and Facebook.) I asked God to let me talk with this person. Two days later I got a phone call from this person who had called directory assistance and asked if anyone in the entire State resided with my name. Turns out I was the only one. My friend called the number and we had a great talk. I was amazed that God answered such a simple request.

Amazing, isn't it? I have also been told no, leaving me disappointed and questioning why. All we can do is ask and accept the result. After everything happened as described in my story, I told the Deacon about it and he just smiled.

Job said it best.

"Shall we accept good from God and not accept bad from God?"

God, in His Sovereign providence chooses to do as He wills. It is nice when He graciously answers so clearly that even an idiot like me can figure it out. God is good, all the time.

One of my strongest pet peeves is that of INGRATITUDE. Show me a constant griper and there stands a person who is guilty of gross ingratitude.
