Praying for past events?

A young man asked me an odd question recently and I'm a bit stymied by it. Could I have some opinions, please?
He asked, if God is outside of time, can we pray to him about past events.
My initial response was "no the past is in the past." But as I reflect on it, since God is outside time and to him the past present and future are one, I'm not so certain. And I've never seen this question before. What do you think?

If you mean - could we pray that the Challenger had one more pre-check
so the ship would not have blown up back in 1986?

If so - no that would not happen

Only in the time travel movies.

Thank you for that answer. I was hoping for more than that. Does anyone have a scripture for that answer, or some concrete answer other than, “that would not happen...”?

This is one of those things that I strongly suspect DOES NOT HAPPEN, but would certainly never say God can't/won’t do!!!!!
I have thought about this in past situations where an accident resulted in only minor injuries, but COULD have been very serious.
Probably never know this side of Heaven, but interesting speculation anyway.

It's a bit circular. God knows when an event happens whether it will elicit prayers from us in the future.

Perhaps I'm taking it out of context, but the episode of David's child dying in 2 Samuel 12:15-23 seems to suggest that things won't be undone in this world.

Give me an example of something of that sort happening - then I will look for a scripture.

Prayer will not undo a past event. But what does come to mind, is Matthew 6:8, ". . . for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. . . ."
