If given the opportunity, would you preach at a Pentecostal church?

preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
2 Timothy 4:2 NAS77

As with Calvinists, there seems to be a range of "pentecostal" beliefs. For example some "oneness" do not accept the Trinity. Some believe salvation can be lost. Some say unless you speak in tongues, you have not been born anew. Others say not everyone receives the gift of tongues.

Most would define "tongues" as speaking an unknown language, rather than a known language which some of those in the audience can understand.

Yes yI would and I have!

No doubt about my answer ... I would do it in a heartbeat .... like all preachers, in and out of season, PLUS I have the gifts to compliment and augment the message.

I love the fact, that although there are only a few comments so far, it looks like a resounding YES! We are all one in Him, only separated by walls our doctrinal indoctrinations have fed us!

I've taken services for military chaplains before. The services are very nondenominational. I've even (gasp) preached out of something besides the KJV because they were using something else. So, yes.

Anywhere. I have laid out the case for Salvation to Charismatic ministers, before, and will gladly do it again.

Rightly dividing the Word, concerning Eternal Life, is always a good doctrine to examine those who are in error after that way.

Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles Doctrine, in fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

I preach in a Pentacostal church every Sunday!!

Yes, but I would preach the truth from God's word regarding the biblical fact that "tongues have ceased."

And that the real sign of the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian is "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."

If you went in with that attitude, you wouldn't be received. You'd lose your chance to reach people by turning them off immediately. You can't reach someone by bashing them over the head. I ask you to rethink your approach.

... and you wouldn't be invited back.

Not that I don't agree with you 110%, but still ...

Strange. They welcomed me. And even asked me to come back. :)

There are different ways of looking at this. As a Calvinist would I tell them to start with what I believe and see if they still wanted me to preach or if they didn't know just go preach and stur a big stink. Would I tone the message down and seek common ground to please men or be the servant of God and preach the truth. What do you think ?

I told the pastor ahead of time exactly what I was going to preach: That tongues had ceased and that the evidence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian was that he/she would speak the word of God with boldness.

The pastor said to go for it. He said if I could convince his congregation, from the bible, that tongues had ceased, then he would not stand in the way of the leading of God.

Some were convinced, and some were not. He invited me back for a second opportunity.

If you are sure of your doctrine, and convicted by the Holy Spirit of God, with scripture to back it up, you have no reason to fear any message or any preaching.

The only ones who fear such preaching are those who have a very weak grip on God's word. :)

That's an interesting scenario. I applaud you for what you did in that case. From a pastor's point of view I would not allow someone to come in and preach contrary to what I preach. Not because I would be afraid of the message, but because I would be afraid that my weaker members would be led astray.

Good luck in your future endeavors with them. I would contend, however, that this is an exceptional case. Normally, a preacher preaching contrary to what is taught would not be received, or invited back.

Spot on, truer words have not be posted. When only one view of the meaning of scripture is allowed, it creates the nurturing grown for growing cults. The NT church held meetings and debated differing views and made progress at weeding out errant views.

I will preach anywhere that will let me, if I get the change to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the word of God, I'm going to take that opportunity.

Paul and Jesus preached in the Synagogues, despite how the Pharisees had corrupted the truth.

I would preach in a Mormon Church, A JW "church" or any place where I can get an audience, even a street corner :)

Go ye into ALL THE WORLD and preach the Gospel to every creature.
