Ellen White...

In the council of heaven, provision was made that men, though transgressors, should not perish in their disobedience, but, through faith in Christ as their substitute and surety, might become the elect of God, predestinated unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself according to the good pleasure of His will. God wills that all men should be saved; for ample provision has been made, in giving His only-begotten Son to pay man's ransom. Those who perish will perish because they refuse to be adopted as children of God through Christ Jesus....
Ellen has it sound as though after the fall three Gods came together to decide what to do about sinful man. She writes " In the council of heaven provision was made that men, though transgressers " a "council" is persons assembled for consultation". Our God is One God revealed in three persons. They need not assemble because they are never apart. They do not consult with one another for they are forever One, they are always in perfect harmony. Their thoughts are always One thought. Never do they consult with each other to make decisions. She writes " though transgressers " this means at a particular time a problem was presented and a council was called to address it. This is entirely false. Everything was written in heaven by God before the foundation of the world. Ellen did not understand the Deity of God nor that God's word was written before the foundation of the world.

Ellen goes on to explain predestinated like this..." There is no such thing in the Word of God as unconditional election--once in grace, always in grace ". Well, that sure clears things up! She goes on..." All who seek to sustain the doctrine of election, once in grace, always in grace, do this against a plain, 'Thus saith the Lord.' ". It seems that Thus sayeth the Lord in these following passages are not very plain to her...

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose .
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son , that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Rom 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
1Cr 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Cr 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us , and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began ,
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love :
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will ,
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved .
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace ;
Eph 1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself :
Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will :
Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise ,
Looks very plain to me. I wonder why Ellen disliked God's word so much in areas where it was so "plain" to understand? Ellen gives absolutely no interpretation of the predestinated passages, she simply chose to ignore them!

God Bless!
