Presenting Decisions to the Church

    My church is in a similar situation as mentioned by TomVols. A single pastor (yes, he is married w/ kids [​IMG] ), (rather young, mid 30’s), with only limited administrative experience. On top of this, due to the turmoil of changing pastors, he has been forced to face many trials of great magnitude. To help him, our deacons have begun assisting him by forming various new committees that serve him by limiting his need to make the smaller decisions (membership, finances, personnel, education [school board], maintenance etc. Some of these are traditionally and biblically considered a deacons role, others are questionable. But he is an ex-officio on every board, with veto power. And yes, I do feel that we are acting as an elder board at times.
